The Red Ant Queen has declared war with the Black Ant Queen!

Your goal is to feed and defend the Black Ant Queen! If she runs out of food, she slowly dies

Every 10 seconds she spawns a new ant to control Every 10 seconds each ant eats food as an upkeep cost

Can you survive all 10 waves and defeat the Red Ant Queen?

Some pointers:
This is a challenging Real Time Strategy game where choices matter.
You can choose which ants you build, but every type of ant has its advantages and disadvantages, try different combinations to find out what works.
Upgrades are very powerful but also very expensive, it is more a 'build' than a 'unlock them all' kind of mechanic.

I feel like i never really knew what the ants were doing. if i sent a worker will it pick up the food? Will it just go there? Sometimes they also seemed to go their own way. Not bad, but I feel like it could be a lot better with some tweaking.

Played your game I do like the idea of it.
Did not work like I would expect so you need a little more feedback on the actions you can take.
I did read the instructions but find it hard to now what I need to do en when to do it.

Do think you can build good games !

Thank you for your feedback @senso! The controls are a bit different from a regular RTS, Left click to select and right click to give commands. Instead of a drag-box, you can drag over units to select multiple at once. I'll try to add more feedback in the game to make the controls clearer.

gameplay was alright, I think the concept was pretty cool, the controls were a little bit difficult to control, even with the instructions and the sound effects and music were mediocre at best, but the game was fun for a few minutes!

Cool concept! Was definitely an interesting challenge to try and juggle scouting/resource collection/defense and figure out the right mix of units. Ultimately it was a bit too difficult though - did a couple attempts and only survived for a few minutes each time. Seems like the upkeep cost is really high compared to how close/plentiful/defended the resources are - the queen starved pretty quickly and I never had nearly enough spare food to do any of the upgrades. Also I found the controls to be a bit finicky, I would have a preferred a normal drag select you can do without having to click on a unit first - plus I sometimes got stuck with a bunch of units selected that I didn't want selected since I seemingly couldn't single click on empty space to reset selection. I also really wanted to use the number keys to select the next unit type as well. Still a solid foundation though, could be quite fun with some tweaks. Nice work!

Did really like the concept, would like a way to make "teams" like in other RTS, other than that a fun experience the click and drag was a little more challenging to use than expected.

The queen is a little bit slow.. but I liked the idea.. maybe would be more interesting if it was a little bit faster and more control..

Keep on doing !

Finally someone going for RTS. I love RTS games but people are too afraid to make them in LD :P Big ups to you!

Cool game, I was determined to win for some time, but did not succeed :(. The queen seems a little too slow compared with other ants. Some of the enemys were really fast, my warriors couldn't cath them at all. The music is nice. When you have many ants it gets a little difficult to tell them appart. Overall I liked this game :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I purposely made the queen slower so that harvest lines are created from the food source to the queen. This makes for better gameplay because you have to protect both your workers and your queen. If the queen would be faster, a "Deathball" army is very prominent creating for less interesting gameplay.

Cool idea, and very ambitious for a jam game! Is it possible to attack your own queen by accident? If so, that explains what happened to my run. (oops!)

Love the overall experience! My ants sometimes block each other... I guess better path finding would help :D
Already a very impressive entry that is done in 3 days! Good job!
