You are a soldier who is tasked with going deep into a secret facility's computer network. What will you find at the end? Probably nothing, but go deeper to find out. Enemies are modified with experimental augmentations every ten seconds. Can you steal enough augmentations to keep going?

  • Every ten seconds the enemies will gain a buff to make them stronger.
  • Kill all enemies and make your way to the computer to pick some upgrades for yourself.
  • You have a limited number of grenades, but don't worry they will refresh each level.
  • Your health will also refresh each level.
  • Look for the escaped specimen for a free health upgrade.
  • Try and beat as many levels as you can, but everyone dies eventually.

Very cool idea. I like picking augmentations and seeing the enemy cards stack. My main complaint is that the game feels unreadable. It's hard to tell what things do what or know what the enemies do. Things kind of blend together. I like how frantic it feels, though. There's a lot of pressure to get things done quickly. Good work!

The visuals have a neat style but I found the bullets really hard to see.

The pixel art it's good, maybe need more bigger bullets to watch it better.

Well done.

Nice game, I like the upgrade system as a reward at the end of every level. I agree with others I found it really hard to see what the enemies were doing to me that caused me to die.

Other people have already commented on the hard-to-read visuals. Yes, bigger or slower-moving bullets would be easier to see, but also sound effects or visual effects when they are fired or when they hit you would also be a bit help. I also felt like some of the hitboxes were quite unforgiving, I was taking damage when it didn't really look to me like I was standing on acid.

Some music would have been really great to fill-in the dead time on your way to the computer after killing all the enemies. If you don't feel up to making any, I suggest wolfram tones (https://tones.wolfram.com/generate). it's not great, but it's better than nothing when you need to fill dead air.

Thanks for the feedback everybody! We were sweating down to the wire and many things didn't make it into the release for the Jam. Among them was some music, more (and better!) levels, better objective prompts, a total run timer on the death screen, and overlays for things like acid damage. The enemy projectiles being slightly slower and significantly more visible with muzzle-flashes are certainly good suggestions.

We're working on a post-jam update 1.1 to hopefully add all of the above and polish the game more to our liking.

nice entry, but needs to be polished, especially graphics, cause it's really hard to play it like that. my tip is to use the same size of pixel for everything – will look better for sure!
