Background

Have you ever gotten invited to be a multiplayer game just to have people not turn up? or are you unable to find the perfect co-op partner? Well you're in luck! This subterranean dungeon has got you covered!

This game allows you to record your actions and play it back in 10 second loops!

Do you think you have what it takes to clear every level?

Controls

  • WASD - movement
  • Mouse - Pan camera
  • Mouse (Left click) - Shoot/Fire Projectile
  • R - Create new recording of your actions
  • E - Playback all recordings of your actions
  • ESC - bring up the Pause MENU (TIP: you can modify mouse sensitivity here!)
  • Space - skip dialogue / Go to Next level (when you beat the current)
  • N - Restart current level NOTE: Windows version recommended!

ChangeLog

  • V1.1 Took some control feed back and added N and Space hotkeys to restart and move to next level respectively + shortened loading screens to make things snappier
  • V1.2 Fixed a bad pathfinding error in Level 7 after boss is beaten

Absolutely awesome concept!! And executed very well for 48 hours! I particularly love the blocky aesthetic of the gates and stuff, very psx very cool. A little bit buggy but thats expected of a game with this kinda scope. Great submission!

The mood and audio were really well done. My biggest issue was with the loading times between the levels, I'm not sure if it's just on my end but it was hard to fully enjoy this with huge breaks in the middle. The graphics were also really good, ignoring the capsule that snuck in lol. Good job!

Fun game! Really great use of a replay feature. Wouldn't mind having restart level on a keypress, but otherwise no complaints!

@bosco Thanks so much for the kind words! Loved how our games took very similar path conceptually too! and

@trabasura good feedback! and good catch on the capsule that slipped by my time management ;)

@khaotom Thanks! I actually have one programmed to F5...I thought I was being clever with it being the same as webpage refresh, but turns out that just means whole page refreshed in the web player build :face_palm: I'll try to patch that

Brilliant concept - liked the blocky art style, and thought it was incredibly well executed in the time available :)

Nice game, great atmosphere.

I got stuck clipping on the gates, but nicely done

Lovely art style! The capsule for the player is a bit sad, especially compared to the rest of the game. The game feels polished, the UI not so much. The clone mechanic is certainly not new, but well executed. Nice one!

Nice entry! Good concept that co-op with former self. The puzzles of attracting enemies are interesting.

The mood during the boss fight is also great. I like the rainy effect.

Enemies even have some path-finding AI, rather than moving toward the player, which surprised me. By the way, the control of locking Y-axis reminded me of Splatoon XD

wonderful clever idea executed nicely. a really unique kind of co-op that really is the core of something deeply satisfying.

Cute game! Would have been handy to have a level restart feature. I had some problems with the Next Level button as well, where I had to exit fullscreen mode for the mouse to be available for clicking. Pressing space would have been more appropriate probably. I loved the intro; it really creates a nice atmosphere. Maybe the actual game was a bit brighter than the intro art suggested, and a darker mood would have probably felt more fitting. The textbox in the intro was a bit hard to read because of the colors. Overall solid entry, and well done for making this much content!

@m11 thanks for trying the game out and the kind words!

@haydads thanks! Have to look into the clipping issue!

@jackaljk Thanks! Yea capsule is the classic issue with time management :(

@moebiusmeow Haha the boss was the first mechanic I made, and had to make path finding for so
me of the more complicated levels that I never got to finish :(

@aaron-smith thanks for the nice words! Glad you enjoyed it

@nyxkn thanks for the feedback! I went and added some hot keys based on your feedback!

@thegamearchitect hahaha great suggestion. Maybe a multiplayer version of this could be fun too!

Clean and simple execution of this style of puzzle game, with some fun humor thrown in. I found the gates to be a bit finicky to go through when it was just one button in front of them, but once the clone mechanic was introduced that wasn't an issue. The puzzles were well-designed and reasonably challenging, and I thought that the art style fitted the design perfectly. Overall a great game, well done!

Really nice! I love that the artwork is a combination of pixel art mixed with 3D. The game was fun, and it was great to try and figure out what steps I'd have to do/record in order to get through the levels. I also love the thunder noise in the background, added to the spooky dungeon theme!

Before I even start: I am so excited for this concept. Jaw dropped and smiling.

Then I got myself stuck. Oh well. :P

This is a really fun idea, the retro style art is also fun to pull on that nostalgia feel.

My only issue is that the controls interact with the web version in weird ways (losing fullscreen with esc for example). That's fairly minor and easily fixed - quality control is hard to manage in the short time frame of a game jam.

Thank you for the fun. :D

Fun game! I think the loading breaks if you rush through the tutorial level (if you enter before the last message is displayed I guess?) I was waiting for a good minute before I realized the game was 100mb and there was no way it was actually taking that long to load

@smilewood and @sslees thanks for the kind words! Appreciate the feedback !

@otterfaelure Thanks for letting me know! How did you get stuck? And so many things to fix for web version!

@dnivie  you found a game breaking bug! I'll have to take a look at how that's coded up! Did you try hitting space bar during that?

@wildmusketeer Oh I just couldn't figure out the puzzle with the limited brain space I was running on haha.
Nothing buggy on your end.
It was early on, 1 clone, 2 buttons with one behind a gate. I tried recording myself running into the gate in the hopes that when I had the gate open the clone would keep moving but... alas.. no such luck.
After that I decided I needed a nap. :P

Impressive amount of features in this - everything seems to work well. The entry was nice and moody - although I was a little surprised once the actual game started  (I hadn't seen the screenshots of the actual "ingame" stuff).

Great minds think alike! Nice to see another take on cloning\time traveling concept, really fits the theme of the jam. Some puzzles felt a little bit unintuitive, but besides that it was interesting game. Good job!

Very nice idea and execution, it was fun to play. The only issue for me was that web version, as usual, is a bit laggy, but it doesn't take much from the game.

Great idea and really clever fit for the theme. Enjoyed the gameplay, wished there was some more substantial player art but didn't really take away from the gameplay at all. Had an issue in the first playthrough where it stuck on the loading screen a couple levels in but didn't happen again on reset. Really nice work!

I was really hoping someone would do something like this with the theme! Thanks for delivering. I was only able to get to the end of level 7... Not sure if there's nothing after getting to the exit in level 7 or if it was bugged. Also, camera felt a little wonky, maybe it was because it lagged behind my mouse movement. I usually expect a camera in third person to move with my cursor instantly. Still, nice work, I like the idea and I hope to see more of it in the future!

Too bad about the introduction taking long. The game play was intuitive. The cloning/recording was awesome idea.
You put a good amount of play in there. The only suggestion I really have is the use of the camera.. it was limiting my control of the character. But I'm not really a gamer and this could well be no problem for all those unity players. Good Job.

While I like the idea, I never got to experience it as my game got stuck in loading after the 3rd or 4th level.

This was a nice instance of the "replay clones of yourself" puzzler! Not an overall unique idea, but I liked the way that you designed it! The liked the art style you went for.

My only complaint is that the camera movement was a little sensitive at first, but once I got used to it, there was no issue!

@purpledartfrog Thanks for playing! Hopefully the surprise was a good surprise and less a disappointment :)

@annie-owl Thanks for the feedback! Would love to know which puzzles felt unintuitive so I can learn from it!

@lesinvisible Thanks for playing anyways! Apologies for the low FPS, webGL always tend to run a little slow :( Do you have hardware acceleration enabled in your browser by chance?

@landosystems Thanks! I actually had a player half baked but never got him into the game in time  This is one of the biggest mistake/prioritization I made this jam. Perhaps I'll clean it up and make a postjam version ![chracterScreenshot.png](///raw/301/4/z/52f60.png).

@timbeaudet Thanks again Tim! Appreciate the feedback and playthrough!

@diego-escalante Thanks for playing! And good feedback on the controls, noted!

@mdotedot Thanks! Sorry the intro felt drawn out, thought it would set the mood/context! And good feedback on thte control!

@papaya Ah sorry about that! I think its something to do with Unity's aysnc scene load API. Had a quick speculative fix on that, hopefully that addressed it!

@hawkin Thanks for the feedback! I think the camera controls been a common issue for many. There is a sensitivity menu tucked into the ESC key but that also brings you out of the webGL build

@wildmusketeer I got confused on the first puzzle, where you need to aggro enemy through the wall to push the button. Baiting enemies through walls felt like an exploit, so I was trying to find other solutions to that puzzle at first.

This is a very cool mechanic! The puzzles ramped up in difficulty pretty fast, for a game jam game I think it might make sense to lower the challenge of the levels so people can see everything you've created (for reference, I ended up stopping at level 6)

I had a bug come up where I was forever-loading into the first level and I've had a few of the UI bugs mentioned above (pressing escape kicks me out of full screen instead of opening the menu)

The intro was really cute and I think it did a lot for worldbuilding, which I'm a fan of. I also highly appreciated the level restart hotkey.

@annie-owl Thanks! This is really great feedback. Similar to @shogeku 's feedback, that concept needs to be introduced more properly, and more obvious when enemies are being herded.

@stuffedgravy Really appreciate the feedback! And good point on the difficulty curve. Hmm for the life of me still can't quite figure out the level loading issue
