itcouldbeworseimg.JPG

A short simple game about a world in collapse.

Survive for as long as possible, not matter what the world throws at you! It could make you slower, it could make you weaker, it could make it...rain? Just hang in there, and remember, it could be worse.

  • WASD to move
  • Mouse and left click to shoot
  • Don't touch the red stuff!
  • There are 10 random events that makes the game harder every 10 seconds. Good luck!

Took a minute to understand what was happening, but ended up having a lot of fun. Great humor, controls feel good (even when inverted) and theme was core to gameplay.

What can I say? It could be worse.

This game oozes style, and feels amazing and fluid to play. I particularly love the parralaxed block colour background with the text, it really felt like there was always looming doom, and it really could get worse. Great tie in of the jam theme into the game, and the games theme into the gameplay.

Lots of great moments with this game, my favorite one was when I was making my way through a wall of enemies, just barely hanging on moving through this mass of enemies dodging the flying enemies' projectiles and then it said "fire rate reduced". Beautiful, always keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting, really a superb take on tying the theme into gameplay. I also found it very stylish, my example would be the world shrinking, that always gave a sense of dread, this was really effective. Great entry.

The animation of the "gun" made it somewhat feel good. I was unfortunate to start my 1st and 3rd games with the invert control thing and it didn't felt that it got worst than that... In both cases I lost because I pressed the wrong direction and went into the wall and an enemy. Lower speed, lower fire rate... didn't make it that worse. It would have been nice to be able to jump with space.

Cool take on theme, I liked the variety of thinks that the game was able to throw at me, it made it feel different each time that I dried it. I also liked that some of them were absolutely a lot less worse then others, just lining up with the message always hovering in the background. At first it seemed that the power of my player was quite high, but the sequential removal of that power quickly put me in my place.

You did a great job making an interesting environment and especially enemies using just cubes, I think that overall your art style worked very well for this game. I liked the subtle sound of the gun, it manages to not be overwhelming even with the initially very high fire rate, but the game could have used a couple more sound effects overall. The rain effect was also great.

Overall I thought that this was quite a fun little game jam game, it had just enough replayability and an interesting take on the theme. Well done!

(Although you did make this in Unity, why no web build? We were even able to embed directly on the Ludum Dare page this time.)

This is one of those games where you have to invest time to really appreciate it.
I'd say for the purpose of jam, make actions happen early and introduce the gimmick; otherwise, the first few ten seconds felt long.

The idea is fine and I had a bit fun playing it. The game feels a bit slow, but it's not too bad for a compo game. Overall a okay little compo game.

Great shooting animation. It takes a while for enemies to show up - maybe have more enemies, but they are less powerful? Neat game, and I really enjoyed the camera work. Nicely done.

Fun take on the theme! I got up to 5855 with very good RNG on my second run and failed on a sudden inverted controls ramming me into a wall :D Good work on making each status effect feel meaningful, rather than -3% movement speed or something. I think hitting enemies could have had a bit more feedback but otherwise not much to complain about. Oh also the visual design is very neat, I especially like the "main menu", it's looks so good!

Also some eerie similarities to my game, solid reddish background with a timer in the distance and levels built out of boxes :D

I got 8763 - maybe to due to RNG  It was stressfull that the enemies grew stronger and the gun got weaker. Good controls

The minimalist blocky design worked well and I though gave the world a bleak look that matched the increasing negative affects. Controls were nice and smooth, fun game.

For as simplistic as this was, firing your weapon was very satisfying. I like your approach to the enemy
aesthetic (the shrinking/growing of the blocks looked cool). Fun little game. I got 13000 points! I wish there was a little back spray when you shot the enemies, but hey, it could be worse.

Really great for compo! I love the idea and I think it was executed pretty well. I do wish the enemies died faster once they're actually dead. It would help when there's a big group of enemies!
