just got mutiny'd (so I'm making sick jumps and posting about it) by misterstripey

[raw]
made by misterstripey for Ludum Dare 51 (COMPO)

Captain Pinky just walked the plank and was left out at sea. It sucks to get mutiny'd.

jgm.png

Use WASD to guide Pinky's Parrot and steer pinky over water ski jumps. The bird might spin around wildly depending on the physical forces and direction facing of the elastic band - consider the WASD controls a consistent wind that blows on the parrot.

Hit a jump and post a picture every 10 seconds to keep up with insane pirate social media standards. You seriously have no idea how often pirates post. Without constant encouragement (every 10 seconds) Pinky will fall into a hole of misery and depression from being mutiny'd and not being the center of attention for once.

The game isn't loading in Firefox atm. I had to go to Player Settings -> HTML5 -> Publishing Settings and set Compression Format to disabled to get my entry working.

Cheers fellow pirate-game maker :) I love the aesthetic

The photo mechanic is really great, with people liking the photos too. It's a fantastic detail. The colour palette and weird visual medley somehow comes together nicely too! Altogether a very fun little game but the controls were very difficult. It was hard to move the bird with WASD with that camera angle, and it's visually unintuitive because the parrot is doing a lot of random spinning around too

Love the aesthetic and music! Took a few tries to get the hang of it but it was very satisfying when I finally got a few jumps.

I like the look of the game (the bird/kite thing is a legitimately cool design).

Controls are a bit unintuitive, unfortunately I didn't get very far. But when I got it to happen, jumping from the ramps felt very satisfying.

This music is so catchy. After playing the game I left the tab open, the loop didn't really get old :)
The most fun part is mastering the controls, jumps become secondary once you get the hang of it. Very neat game!

I like the cute graphics and the mood of the game, this is a perfect small arcade game with highscore to beat etc...
The level design is poor you can just turn around and take always the same bump, there is no parkour i think you must work on this point. But that's funny and chill very good job !

it's a really cute little game I wish the parrots controls were a little more natural making it just the captain you have to worry about but I love the idea and execution of this game, the ludum dare site did something strange with the screen so I couldnt fully see the timer, also the music didn't start until about 20 seconds in but otherwise I had funnn

Cute funny game! Getting waterskiing to feel nice with Unity physics is impressive to me. Also watched your video, I wish I could be mostly finished on Saturday.. that sounds relaxing. Thanks for the entry and good luck with your main project! :v:

I loved the artwork and the photos. The music is also great too. The controls were a bit hard to understand though.

Theme: Every 10 seconds
Game: Sick Pirate Tony Hawk game

This has to be the wildest entry I've seen in this jam XD.

Also, I can totally relate to the crash you experienced. That's why my entry doesn't have audio :o

I love the concept, but controlling the bird is a bit too finicky. I also think the fixed camera works against the game - once you've passed all the ramps, it's a struggle finding your way back to one.

I hit 19 sick jumps brah! I coulda done more, just stopped cuz i didn't wanna show ya up. Jokes aside, fun little arcade game. I think you could add a lot of variety by adding some tricks off of the jumps, or varying the jumps over time a bit more. The music was kinda a like, modern dance take on a sea song, which was interesting and very solid, but not quite my jam. I really liked the cute style!

Pretty fun! And yeah, suddenly coming up with a story premise to go with a mechanic is always such a huge boost to motivation for me.

Cool idea, good execution, but the bird being 2D made it slightly unintuitive to navigate

Nice quirky style and like the consistency in the music and visual theming. Bit of a different take on the theme which I liked. Really tricky gameplay but the mechanic of adding on 10 seconds balances this well I think. Hard to tell if the odd controls would be something that I would adapt to over time but this did limit the fun factor a little bit for a short play. Nevertheless, very well done.
