Impending Doom of a Thousand Kitties by RalfZ

Cats. Thousands of them! In this silly game you need to feed your evergrowing collection of kittens that increases in size every ten seconds. Put them aside if one is hiding behind the others. Not feeding them will result in angry furry friends, and also a game over. Created in less than 48 hours by @ralfz and @zubi!

Seems like all of them had their personal black hole in their bellies!
Well done!

Btw, you can patch the awkward embedding! Directly modifying these two width and height lines to the values shown allows the embed to fit in Ludum Dare's embed.

This game is adorable I love the adorable mayham hehe
It could be nice to have a keyboard shortcut selecting grab or feed :D
Very cute
Congratulations for the art ! It's nice to play. I like music that fits the mood.
What a lot kittens do I have .. where do they all come from? I have to tell my GF not to let the door open!
Good one. Very enjoyable.
Art was really great tho.
The only thing I would change is the sounds that kittens make so it's a bit different, cause it can get loud and annoying quickly, but overall it's a wonderfull game!
Check my game if you want to!
Fun: Had a smile the whole time while I played it! The caveat is I didn't play for a super long time as I felt I saw all there was too see at around 8-12 cats.
Innovation: While I didn't feel any particular idea or mechanic was pushed to new heights what you presented was well executed and enjoyable.
Theme: A cate every ten seconds. :ballot_box_with_check:
Graphics: Love the cutesy pixel art style! :two_hearts:
Audio: SFX really sold the retro pixel style and added to the cute factor.
Humor: Infinite kitties, not bad!
Mood: A bit mixed, relaxing vibes but game play design encourages rapid clicking. The mood the game leaves you with though, peaceful purrfection.
I'd love to see the addition of some more treats, some cute munching sounds to add feedback to feeding time, and bigger particles to show the eating state a little better. This could make for a really cute idle game title!
This reminds me a lot of the (super ancient) cat games by GIGA-RENSYA ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTpTzrKd8jg ) and Louie Zong's games ( https://everydaylouie.itch.io/cat-dance )
Interesting seeing Bosca Ceoil being used! How was your experience with it?
The pixel art is great with comfortable color. I really love it. =w=
Ralf recommended Bosca Ceoil to me. Even though it was my first time using the software, I didn't feel overwhelmed by the options. Sure, there's a lot of instruments they give you to work with, but I just took my time with it. It was a treat being able to experiment with it all! (For reference, I made the "Game Over" track and Ralf made the "Main Theme"). I recommend it, especially for making simple game soundtracks!
Game wise I was just clicking a bunch haha - was unsure on what the towel thing did
Good job!
Congrats on this cute little game! Love the graphics and overall mood!
I love the graphics, the cats are super cute. I was able to get really far with just using the feed option, and I didn't really have a reason to switch to move cats out of the way.
Regardless, great job on the game!
I got to 41!
I just didn't understood full well when the cats are fed and when they are not.
I will say the very first thing I did was find that I could just drag the kitten off screen and that was a game over lol. I assume that explains the hand. Also, I can't seem to restart randomly. That includes from the main menu. If I click on 'Menu' after failing, and I click 'Play', I sometimes have to hit restart immediately? Not sure.
I loved the graphics and the music for sure and I enjoyed my time playing.
by the way. use this in Index.html to avoid broder
```
<body style="text-align:center;padding:0px;margin:0px;overflow:hidden">
```
Two little issues I had:
- Some kittens popped their heads out of the right border and stayed there for long, I clicked on them but had no feedback of if they were fed or not
- The sound effects can sometimes plays on top of each other leading to a huge spike volume causing saturation.
just one note : having items in a left zone out of screen, and having to click to make them show, is sometimes a bit difficult. Maybe having them always on screen?
Great game! Super cute, I loved the digital meows and just the whole look of it.
I agree with other comments suggesting to make scruffing easier. Maybe left click to feed and right click to scruff. As it was, I was sort of just left to madly click the feed button as quickly as I could (but maybe that's the point too)
love how the kittens are animated <3!!! The inly thing is that their meows are not actually like meow sound
I also have a game with cats which you can check if you want
This is also my first game :)
- Cute art & cool idea!
Cons:
- It was really hard to understand how to feed the cats at first
- It was also hard to see when I was going to lose or not. Maybe with more visual and sound effects?
Bugs:
- I lost the game with the food thing selected and my cursor stayed like this even in the menus
- Sometimes I couldn't close or open the right menu :/
- cats
- adorable pixel art
- a music loop that will turn in your head minutes after playing
- more cats
Should you play? Yes.
The pixel art is nice, the music has the right amount of catchiness (but it's also a short loop to provide the "nyan cat" effect). The theme implementation is actually brilliant, because it's extremely simple and easy to notice, and yet it has the power to completely turn the perception on gameplay as the game progresses.
I found extremely annoying how the side panel pops automatically, especially when I had to feed kittens on the far right but... at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if it was done on purpose just for the sake of adding chaos to chaos.
I have to admit, when I got to this point I felt a strange sense of fulfillment, and for some reason I can't explain it reminded me of how a friend of mine became literally obsessed for weeks with a flash game where you are a constantly running unicorn, all the way back in middle school. It was called Robot Unicorn Attack, if I remember correctly. I completely removed it, so thanks for the memories I guess.

Second, well placed game poster (image) Kittens and html5, its clever and it works, well done :)
Third.. kittens, so many, very cute. Left to be desired more diversity in the kittehs, where is tabby, orangy and blackie :)
Overall very well thought through, well made and executed. Runs find in Safari browser.
I did consider using an auto clicker though :smiling_imp: to become a true cat lady
The art style is great, and the simple idea works fine.
I would have liked a bit more feedback, like something telling me which cat my cursor was currently targeting for exemple, and maybe something indicating more precisely how close I was to losing. Also, the food icon replacing basic cursor when hovering a cat was a bit buggy.
I didn't find the hand tool very useful. I guess it's meant to push cats that are in front of another cat? It's often easier to target the pixels that still shows. Maybe finding another simple mechanic to force a bit more swaps between those two tools would be cool.
Great job and thanks for the game, I had a nice time!
Nice music and visuals.
Maybe the visual feedback and the controls could be improved (keys to switch between tools?) to let the player reach a higher cat number easier and keep things under control a bit longer (and reduce frustration while enforcing the chaotic situation).
I enjoyed it!
Great work on this one.
Good job :thumbsup_tone1:
β fun music and sounds
β good use of the theme
β it is not clear what to do at the beginning, there is no response from feeding
β get bored quickly
I think it's also too easy since you just have to spam click the cats to stay in the game. I got a score of 16 which I recognize is low but I didn't really wanted to continue playing more.
The graphics are very cute and the gameplay can probably be improved !
Keep up the good work  !
Congratulations to all team members!
