Yellowbean Bog by Flightless

[raw]
made by Flightless for Ludum Dare 51 (COMPO)

Objective

Yellowbean (you) - has been left in charge of keeping grandma fed while the rest of the family went on a vacation.

  • Every day lasts 10 seconds
  • Grandma eats two mushrooms per day

  • Grandma only eats fully grown mushrooms. :mushroom:

  • If you trample mushrooms, they will not re-grow

  • Keep it up for two weeks, and your family will come back and help you with the duties.

Controls

  • Arrow Keys or WASD - Move around
  • R to Restart

Thoughts

This time I wanted focus on the graphics and mood of the game. :sparkles: The gameplay itself is quite meh.

This is a nice game! Tough I had to restart it about 5 times because I accidentaly pressed R every time.
I absolutely love the backround.

Loved the game. Fun to play, easy to understand it. Music could be more varied :)

really cute game! it had a neat vibe; the graphics were adorable and it felt like you created your own little world. the gameplay was a bit limited in scope, but that actually motivated me to figure out how to optimize my strategy, so i restarted once or twice. cool stuff!

Nice little game, the yellowbean movements are a bit late from inputs sometimes that made me repress thinking it didn't work only to move another case into a mushroom x) Nice graphics, I tried to lose one time and the game over screen is terryfing for such a cute game :p

Nice character design and graphics, and interesting scenario. I didn't find it very difficult, as grandma was always just "eating for fun" and mushrooms were plentiful. I did a second playthrough to see what would happen if I lose (sorry grandma) and I'm impressed you even added a game over screen with music and everything lol

A simple idea, yet very well executed and fun to play until the end! Well done! The game feels nicely polished from the gameplay to the graphics, without forgetting the music that fits so well with the game's atmosphere.

This game is really original. A grandmother who loves mushrooms is suspicious

:D Very cute game! I think your focus on graphics and mood are obvious! This was a very fun vibe, even though the controls and gameplay aren't the most compelling. I love the wiggly animations. The models are all excellent. The sounds and music are fantastic. This is a really fun little world you've created. I really struggled with trampling too many mushrooms when my momentum kept me going forward after I wanted to stop. But it was forgiving enough anyway, which is really good.

This experience is art. Was hoping something else interesting might happen after grandma is just eating for fun

Very original take on the theme! And very nice graphics! I thought that this was Unreal game at first. The music here was great as well and super fitting! I would personally make mushrooms grow again, even if it had to take few days, but I was able to get around this limitation in the end. Great game!
