The Aspiring Postman by petmonkey

[raw]
made by petmonkey for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

* HTML5 version only works in full screen because of my crappy UI coding. See the lower right corner of the player for full screen button. *

In this game you play as an aspiring mail pigeon about to embark on your apprenticeship test. Deliver all mail every day before the clock runs out. People in this world might use addresses a bit different than how we're used to, but don't let that discourage you!

Yeah, we really didn't care for the theme. So rather than working on something we didn't like, getting demotivated and quitting half-way through, we just ignored the theme it this time.

(The Late WebGL upload is a bug fix since I accidentally disabled the full screen button. DL link was up before deadline).

I love the idea of this world. Having the map be almost an entire small planet is fantastic. I like the exploration aspect of it. The mouse controls were a bit hard to master, but overall it's a really fun experience!

The setting was very very pretty! I liked how vibrant everything was! I had a bit of an issue where the camera would roll rather violently at times, I had to keep it to small motions. It was fun trying to find the houses, but the lack of landmarks in certain areas made overall navigation kind of difficult. I like pigeons.

I agree with the others on the camera/mouse controls - it takes a while to get used to, but after that it feels consistent. I'd also like a map, or something that gives a general idea of where a landmark might be - it's easy to get turned around. But I enjoyed it a lot! The core premise reminds me a bit of Space Taxi - a game that I was absolutely obsessed with in the late 80's. Great job!

Nice concept and art! :bird: I wish the camera was smoother.

I love the idea and the visual style is nice but I did have a few issues with controls, I struggled with finding where stuff was to be delivered and when trying to land I kept flying through and under the floor. I'd love to see this with a flatter world that loops around on itself with waypoints!

I think a pigeon flying about is great though and it's nice flying about just to sight see! The colour palette was great and flying feels decent once you get used to it. A lot done here in a short time!
