Premise
Your house is kinda falling apart and apparently it’s also haunted. Good thing you have a hammer and some salt. Time to get to work.

How to play the game / Controls:
General
Home R.I.P.airs is a game about, well, repairs and protecting your home from spooky forces.
Controls
- Move: Arrow keys
- Jump: Space bar
- Fix: X
- Salt: C
Instructions
- Fix the spooky problems that pop up around the house every 10 seconds by tapping at it with your hammer the correct number of times.
- Higher severity problems (marked with warning signs) drain your house health faster!
- Keep the salt level at a maximum at your door or else a ghost might come to slow you down!
- Fill the salt meter to the max to make any ghosts disappear.
- Make it through the night without your house and sanity crumbling down.

I probably had the most difficulty moving between the floors - maybe a ladder or stairs could be useful? (unless you intended it to be difficult).
Good job!
Nice art and gameplay, little, but joyful game.
Although for me, the sound was a bit too creaky.
Hope you had fun!
Good job to the team !
Some thoughts:
- I love how the sounds show the things that need repair
- It's a little bit repetitive and too easy, but that's ok for a Jam game
After being pretty easy for most of the game, it got extremely hard in the last 20 sec. I lost then every time.
I put salt in the cake :smirk:.
Lovely game :). Home repairs have never been so fun!
Salt in cake?? Delicious ;) Thank you for rating!!
Overall, really nice game. I hope you keep making them!
- Arrow/WASD controls are vert intuitive, just curious why instructions only mention arrows?
- X and C are a bit less intuitive, but at least there's only two actions.
- It might help to make the game more self-explanatory or with in-game instructions? "Press X to fix" popping up over items is better than having to read about it before playing
- I have no idea if I used the salt correctly, I was leaving it at the door but it didn't seem to influence anything. Again, a pop-up explaining where/when/how to use it would be helpful.
- Randomly occurring events are great, but it gives different players unpredictable first-time (or ONLY-time) experiences. I suggest having the first few events scripted so that jammers can experience and learn the game as quickly as possible, and have the random ones occur later for those who already got the hang of it.
1. Totally agree about the in-game instructions; we would've liked to do a more in-depth tutorial if we had the time.
2. I also agree about the salt mechanic (basically, if your salt level isn't at 100%, the chances that the ghost will spawn will slowly increase) in that it isn't immediately clear about what it's doing.
3. And wow, I didn't even think about the scripted experiences-- really good point.
Thank you so much for the helpful feedback!!
- having to spam a button to repair things is not really fun, I would like to be able to let the key pressed and wait for a bit
- it is not clear that the ghost slows you down, making it a bit more drastic would help the player that did not read carefully instructions (I'm guilty of that, sorry, but I know I'm not the only one)
- It's too bad that the salt is usable only on one door, I would have liked to use it a bit more.
- The sound is a bit annoying, especially the one from the TV. It's mostly a problem of mix I think.
- Generally, the game lack a bit of feedback. The rule is : whenever you interact with something, there should be a feedback, with a sound and a visual cue, wether it's a particle effect, a change of color on one of the object, etc. From my experience I can tell that there is never enough feedback, and it's what make the game concept shine.
- as others have mentioned, pressing the button as fast as possible could be replaced with a short wait time, which might improve the game flow
- towards the end it feels unfair when too many things break at once without enough time to fix them before the health runs out, idk if it's random or by design but for me it seemed impossible to win
- I don't quite understand when the ghost shows up as the salt was always about 75%
- The hitbox for fixing things could be a bit more generous, fixing the door from the second step seemed logical from my perspective but the game didn't allow it
Tho I liked the overall idea of a haunted house and fixing things while running back and forth was quite comedic.
Overall a very fun game with great sound and art.

So I figured I'd give it another go just to see what the ghosts were like. I do think they do a good job of changing up the gameplay, but I think they should probably pop up more frequently to ensure the player always has to contend with them at least once!
Very unique game all-around, though. I always enjoy the more non-combat-focused entries.
