Flameout by triggthediscovery

A game about burning out. You play a lone firefighter trying to stop a blaze from overtaking a factory. The only issue is there are furnaces constantly catching ablaze, and without you they'll that the whole building down! How long can you survive the blazing inferno?
For the theme, every 10 seconds another furnace catches fire, which degrades the blue bar faster (facility health). The blue bar resets every level, your health does not. There are 3 levels, but the game loops endlessly with more enemies spawning in over time.
Controls: - WASD/Arrow keys - movement - Mouse - point to aim, click to shoot - M - mute music - N - mute sound effects - Esc - pause
I unfortunately used "XMLHttpRequest" to handle external files (namely 3d model files), so despite being a browser game, it doesn't embed on here. I've linked the Itch page where it should run properly in browser.
Performance is also poor in Firefox. If you're distracted by the frame rate, Chrome & Edge run it far better.

Once I hit level 2, I found enemies would spawn on top of me sometimes, which caused me to take an unavoidable hit.
Certain angles don't seem to line up with the mouse. I noticed the most when shooting the lower right end of the screen. Combined with the slow projectile speed, I'd often spend multiple seconds shooting the wrong spot before I got the feedback needed to correct.
Movement feels a bit floaty. Reducing the deceleration time would probably make the movement feel more responsive and snappier.
As others have mentioned, the gameplay in general feels a bit on the slower side. I think it'd be worth experimenting with faster kill times and more enemies.
That all said, I didn't hit any showstoppers and the game was easy to understand and fun.
Nice work!
I thought the fire visuals were unique! Im not sure i've seen it done that way before and it really worked for me.
Additional fire orbs spawning at once would have really heightened the tension but overall not too bad!
Smooth controls!
Also hats off for building the game in JS+WebGL with no engine, not even THREE.js, the initial load is super fast!
