Doffee Shoppe by jamminn

[raw]
made by jamminn for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

Story: You are a (non-paid) worker for a company called Doffee (Doughnut + Coffee) who prides themselves in quick shipping time for every order.

Tutorial on playing: For the first 10 seconds, nothing happens to give you some time to prepare. Every 10 seconds another order comes in, if there are more orders than you can take at once: you lose. Something happens after your first 10 orders, play to find out what! In order to complete an order, you must create a matching item to that onscreen and then interact with the correct counter to turn it in.

Controls: Arrow keys - Move Z key - Interact

Idea: Every 10 seconds you get a new order

bzzzz BZzzz I'm a good worker drone :)
It is a fun little arcadey kind of game, definitely perfect for this kindda theme :D
It got really hectic but at the same time, it had such a happy vibe to it.

very nice graphics and the gameplay was easy to understand. at the beginning i did not realize that there could be an order for a blank doughnut :)

I couldn't figure it out honestly. It looks good and but "Z" doesn't seem to do anything for me. I can move around but that's about it. "Z" is working for starting the game though.

@jamminn - Looks like it has to do with the embedded version only. The itch.io version worked. Seems spotty on the embedded version. I've updated my ratings :)

It took me a second to figure out the controls, but once I did it worked well for me on the embedded version, fwiw.

I scored 53, which I think is pretty good?

I know the theme was 'every 10 seconds,' but I feel like it would work a bit better if the orders gradually came in faster (maybe your walk speed could speed up too to accommodate, or something.) As is it gets a little monotonous until you make a mistake and then you suddenly don't have enough time. Although, that does accurately capture how it feels to work in food service, so... :p

The graphics are very cute, and I like the different variety of things you have to make by combining various factors (cup size, milk in coffee, frosting, sprinkles, etc). The different images for orders did a good job conveying what needed to be done to construct each dish, although sometimes the different cup sizes were a little difficult to distinguish.

Overall good job! I like this game! It reminds me of a single-player version of Overcooked, with the different orders coming in at the top and the different steps you have to take to put them together.
