Dodge48 by thesnide
Couch multiplayer game inspired of Dodgeball.

Rules: * Each player start with a certain amount of balls * The goal is to get rid of those by launching them into other players * Every 10 seconds the player with the least amount of balls (kept, or in-flight) gets a point * The first player that gets to 10 points wins the game
Another 4x1h game completed. Quite happy with its outcome. Let's see if I manage to gather more playing hours in total than the number of dev hours

Initially I wanted to collect the balls, but having the least is a good twist
Nice submission!
That said, I might do that later. Don't hold your breath though, as I almost never enhanced a game post-LD :sob:
Quite a trick to play the game alone (and tbh the keyboard mapping might be better & somehow pointed out), but I would like to give additional bonus point for Pico8  It's always a pleasure to see how people crafting such small things in it!
Well done, mate!
That said, it shows what skills I need to improve now 😃
That's all I could gather from playing it on my own, I can imagine how fun it would be to play with someone else tho
I love pico8 games, and doing multiplayer is a fantastic idea - although I couldn't find an opponent at home.
it could be done easily as all the consoles could work in lockstep, rewinding on network errors.
great work!
@0x-void-x0 Well, not really. If you look at the code, it is super readable.
@firebelley yes. I played it with my young sons... and the "alarm" gets them super frantically trying to throw all their balls at me
Would have love a bot feature however.... But I'm pretty sure you had to cut a lot of thing to make it fit into that time span.
good job!
Very well put togeter. Especially because you made this in 4 hours (or at least, that is how I interpreted that)
Unfortunately I couldn't get another player to play this with me, but I like what you did, from what I was able to try! The UI is really clever too - I like how you use the light and dark colors to show balls in the air vs. balls available to throw.
Which is a little cheating, as creating a game isn't only coding. Doing it that way learned me the power of going slower and avoid frantically trying things until it works. You can actually do a lot of trial and errors in your imagination, and with some practice I am much better than otherwise.
Good idea, I'll have to write something about it. In 4x1h ?

> Love the vibes that PICO-8 games have
In the same spirit, since I have started dabbling in Game Boy development currently since a few weeks ago, I was thinking it might be a good idea to submit a Game Boy game to some future edition (maybe some people already did?). :) Game Boy ROMs can even work as a navigator version!
I also wonder if there are some TIC-80 games here in Ludum Dare 51.
PS: just found that some hours later by sheer coincidence (noticing the thumbnail) that yes, there is at least one Game Boy ROM! :D
