If I could add one thing it would be a nice fat explosion when you fire the shotgun.
Do the spaceships and boxes up in the skybox do anything? I kept trying to shoot them.
I will play your game!
In the first two runs, I ended up looking all the way downwards, which made me think the controls were inverted. Limiting the camera movement downwards would be a good solution to that.
I think the game could use some more polish when it comes to enemy interactions and behaviors. also maybe multiple levels would make a great variety, but anyway the gameplay look is pretty fun! nice game. also bonus point for going low level with SDL I always like a fellow nerd
If the enemies were supposed to damage me there really should've been some clear indicator that this was happening.
Also the sound could've used quite a bit more work I think, the shotgun sound was very unsatisfying, it really would've benefitted from a proper shotgun explosion sound. Also the sound the enemies made became very annoying after a short period so that could've either used some work, or fewer enemies from the start.
The graphics weren't half bad, although I noticed the camera rotation wasn't clamped so I accidentally turned the camera upside down.
Overall the game needs polish, but keep at it! -Peter
The visuals are very beautiful and the mechanics are interesting, but could be a little more worked on, at first I was pretty lost on what to do, all those objects moving on the screen left me a little disoriented, but then I figured out what to do, maybe some indicator that helps the player improve gameplay.
I also noticed that enemies are inoffensive and don't damage or do anything to the player.
About the menu, I found the design very cool and I also found it very interesting that you put links to your discord, facebook and youtube, some links seem to have ads to access, my tip would be to remove this and put a direct link, people can give up accessing the page because of the impracticality of closing the ads.
Overall, great job and congratulations on being a part of Ludum Dare!
