10 Snekonds by YogurtTheHorse
Welcome to 10 Snekonds

You're an operator of high-tech, bleeding edge linear swarm of multi-purpose robotic vehicles, commonly referred to as “Snake”.
Usually driving this thing is fun, but a mysterious Pyramid is shooting at you every 10 seconds, forcing your last vehicle to detach and misbehave. Frankly, this makes it even more fun somehow, but you still need to win!

But we're pretty sure the game does indeed have a win screen. Perhaps someone will see it some day.
If you’d like to rewatch the playthrough, you can find it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1608912292?t=4h47m13s
Good luck on your ratings, see you next LD! :D

Well. After all that's only a prototype x)
This was the perfect balance of extremely fun, frustrating and short enough to give it just one more try again and again.
I wanted to play this for 5 minutes but in the end I spend half an hour until I could finally beat it (small note: after it showed me the "you won screen" it started showing "try again at the same time layed over it).
The pixelart graphics are amazing, the music great and the gamemechanics really innovative, clever and with a lot more depth than I initially expected.
I had a lot of fun playing this! great job!
We hadn't time to make it super clear so ended up with those screens
Very nice game and great entry!
I didn't win but I had a blast.
Too much of a blast, I kept crashing.
But this game will forever nyoooom in my heart.
The only critique I have is that the little blocks that stay and turn into solid metal? are a bit of a downer. But that's part of a challenging gameplay so.. *shrug*.
Thank you for the great game.
Nyoooom.
Maybe today or tomorrow we would make a fix, not sure
Thank you for your feedback!
@madr thank you! 3d art-style of your Foody the Robot is actually good!
@0x-void-x0 yeah we didn't make it easy to understand what to do in the beginning :(
Pros:
- Guacameelee meets snake
- Great visuals, I'm sucker for pixel-art
- Nice color palette
- Cool Animations
- Good Variety of 'difficulty'
- Glad to see a nice amount of upgrades as well
- Music is :pineapple:
- Good attempt on the theme itself
Cons:
The actual only con I can say is that, at least for me, the controls of the 'snake' felt really clunky. I would swear I have made a proper input motion, but the snake would not more around or would end up doing a turn in 2-3 tiles later than I originally anticipated. The game is quite catchy on its own, but this was a dealbreaker I couldn't go with for too long.
Yet, the game feels and looks polished as it could be for JAM entry. Great job guys!
Nice entry, I didn't catch is there any objective, but gameplay wise it's working pretty well. Slightly overcomplicated in tutorial, but maybe I didn't catch some mechanic, dunno. Worth to mention that art is very nice as always  Well done!
I hope next jam we make something easier, heh
Thank you for your feedback, glad to hear you liked it! (But can you say what "larger pixel" is?...)
Yeah, bugs with gameloop happen time to time, unfortunately :(
Small advice - you can dash through turrets :)
Actually, yeah, that must've been intentional, since you lose the end of the snake. It wouldn't make sense to gain one then immediately lose it. I really do need to have another go at this. I think it didn't fully sink in on the first try.
Update: I've got the hang of it now. I've found a good strategy of tightly circling the base. It's gotten me to stage 4 pretty quickly.
Hmmm.. We dont know how to replace the head instead of tail. What do you mean?
UPD: Oh I see. Yes. That's the whole idea ;)
Congrats!
When I got a slime block, I then ran towards the corner of the map dropping the slime block there. The slime then became some kind of backup blocks since they kept duplicating. Also attaching slime blocks made it easier to shoot during the last phase.
By the way I found a way to turn around for 180 degrees directly with dashing. When I was heading left, I pressed Z and rapidly press up then right during a short period of time, I turned to right directly. I wonder if it's intended though.
Movement around the pyramid was a little frustrating at times but the combos are really interesting!
Actually you can turn around without dash by pressing very fast some 90 degree direction and than immidiantly 180 :)
