Nice game! Why do you need a backend?

@lootwig Good question! We created an API to persist some user preferences, as well as the max waves completed by the user, and their highest score. We were working on a leaderboard page in the background as well that would utilize this data.

I have to say, this really just reminded me of my first Ludum Dare game from LD28. I made a game called Stan's Happy Thoughts which was like this but with aliens. The art in yours is much better though. The candies and health are an upgrade too. I think mine was a one hit kill kinda game with no reticle. I like this for the nostalgia more than anything and for the Halloween vibes. Thanks for making this! It makes me happy.

Really nice game. The different enemies and their little animations are great. It took a little bit but after a while it got pretty difficult. But I managed to last just over 400 seconds, which seemed pretty good :D

Nice art style, audio is nice and spooky too! Keeps things nice and simple which is good.

A few criticisms I have are the knockback is good feedback but it could use a bit of a cooldown as if there are enemies at opposite sides then you can get bounced around a lot meaning a lot more damage is taken. I love the theme of sitting in a graveyard but I would love if gravestones had hitboxes to give the player something to kite enemies around to add some strategy when it gets to the later stage of the game.

Other than that great job! I like how you give the player crosshair options, not something you generally see in jams! It was nice seeing enemy variety and the shooting felt like it worked well! I managed around 400ish seconds and it was a fun few mins!

The sounds are the best part of the game, they just fit perfectly and the music doesn't get boring even after a few minutes. The gameplay is quite simple, but due to the increasing difficulty, it does not bother. I also agree with the previous comment that the knockback after taking damage is too harsh.

Amazing game. Really catchy graphics. Some work can be done from the gameplay side and can be a made a bit more complex. I think the 10 second rule did redistricted a lot of possibilities. Please do check out my submission as well.

Nice work - it was surprisingly satisfying how the monsters exploded when hey died. However I wish the shooting was a bit more interesting because it never really got that much more difficult for me so it felt a bit repetitive. I did also really like the graphics style (and how it blended in with the itch.io page too that was cool).
