Your task is to collect Tuskium, a rare mineral from a shell with a soul of its own. But beware, as the deep waters won't let you have it without a fight. You'll have torpedoes to defend yourself with, but it's best to avoid the sinister creatures entirely.

You are equipped with a sonar, which scans the surrounding area every 10 seconds.

Controls: - Mouse: Direct submarine - W: Move forward - Left click: Shoot torpedo - Right click: Click to interact, hold to mine - Space: Pick up nearby ores (can carry multiple) - CTRL: Drop one ore that you are currently carrying

Oh this is creepy while beautiful! You've done a great work expression the fear of darkness and unknown. I love the sonar effect of highlighting the target's edge based on direction. It gives a promising experience. I'm not sure if it's intended, but having a sonar timer would help build my sense of time and expectation.

@wizcas Thanks for the kind words. We did not want to add a sonar timer because we felt it would take away from the feeling of being in the darkness. But we'll take your feedback into consideration when further developing this game.

What a cool take on the theme! The graphics and audio are fantastic. I would've like it if you could move your mouse while moving to change directions.

Fantastic entry! Top notch audio/art. Controls feel great. The mood is very cohesively eerie. The entire experience feels very well polished. The low range point light is such a good touch to really drive home the "bottom of the ocean' feeling. Innovative use of the theme in the sonar mechanic.

really nice aesthetic! I loved the music and the sonar mechanic. I would prefer to have more life tho, and be able to defend myself better. Suddenly two enemies cycled me and killed me in seconds. If you plan to continue developing it, I would suggest to have an invincibility timer, so you can't get much damage in a short period of time. It is a great game and I enjoyed it very very much, probably one of the best I played so far! Well done!!!!

@shimmerscale Thanks a lot.
I'm also not sure what you mean with your request. Currently you should be able to change direction while moving by moving your mouse around.

@astrydax Thanks for the kind words

@greenphox Thanks for the great feedback. I did try and implement an invincibility timer for the player, but it seems to be bugged. We ran pretty tight on time this time around so a few bugs did slip through

@thegamearchitect Thanks, dark was what we were shooting for

@bangthewall My cursor won't move when I'm pressing W. However, I think it might be something with my computer. I've noticed similar things happening when I play some other games as well.

Really awesome game. The aesthetics and the mood are great. Is there any kind of win condition in the game or do you just keep mining until you die? xD

@shimmerscale It seems like the problem might be your sided

@stefan-laimer Currently the game just keeps going with no win condition, but my plan would be to make it into more of a roguelite game with every run having some kind of objective.

@vein Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it

Wow, what an amazing game, a really great execution on an interesting interpretation of the theme. the pulsing sonar would constantly alert me of monsters. I can't help but wonder what kind of world this is, who are we? why are mining Tuskium (also what is Tuskium?) It has a really dark and broody atmosphere

@nullval Love to hear the kind words. And also great that we managed to get you into the lore of the game as well, that feels like a big success. I guess you'll have to find your answers whenever we develop the idea further

I liked the game but is become very fast really hard because of monsters ! The game loop look close to Dome Keeper, especially those cables to bring back ressources ! Well done !

super spooky!!! the audio is amazing, some of those noises sent shivers down my spine. the sonar is super cool looking, and sitting mining ore, not knowing when my sonars gonna go off or how many baddies are around me felt terrifying and I loved it

@vhalenn yes, the balance of the game definitely isn't the best, as we didn't have a lot of time to experiment around with it. And yes, we definitely took some inspiration from Dome Keeper, mainly the idea that carrying ore should make you slower.

@sparkysa Thanks, that was exactly the feeling we were going for with the game!!!

This is such a really cool concept, when the sonar kicked in, I really felt like I was in a submarine! great job! Also loved the voice acting!

Overall: At the time of writing this is my highest rated game yet. Superb!

Fun: Very fun! Hauling back a full node, moving slow, counting those ten second to the next pulse hoping for the all clear. Eerie, scary, dark. Fantastic!

Innovation: Beautiful take on the theme! Super creative and well executed!

Theme: Perfect use of the theme in a meaningful way!

Graphics: Very well designed! Loved ever asset I saw!

Audio: Love love love! You really sold the atmosphere!

Mood: Atmospheric, dark, eerie, immersive. Well executed!

@rubentipparach Glad to hear that the game was immersive for you

@isaac-hisey Thanks you so much for the amazing feedback, will definitely try to keep everything you described in the game when further developing the game.

@jag We definitely sacrificed some other parts of the game to have voice acting in it, since it did take away some time from us. Glad it was worth it.

Cool concept. Loved the sonar effects and points for having narration. I would've liked subtitles with the narration to double check given information. The narrator also mentioned getting upgrades but sadly I didn't notice any difference in the experience.

I was confused what the goal was or when I had gathered enough materials. Adding indicating element to HUD could be a nice addition. Some of the enemies seemed to avoid the sonar, somehow.

Good work, I think there is room for exploration and further development (as seems to be your intention).

@coderaurus We initially planned on having subtitles, but we decided to use the subtitle space for control prompts as we didn't have time for a tutorial.

I do agree that the goal of the game is a bit hard to understand and will definitely work on it in the future. But for now the only goal is to upgrade your ship at the home base using the ore that you bring into the home base

Thanks for the kind words and great feedback, will definitely be useful for us in the future

I found it to be a bit too punishing with the healing becoming more and more expensive, and how mining each cluster always spawned multiple enemies.

Other than that, it's a great concept and could be a really cool, atmospheric game if fleshed out properly. I would definitely play it if it had more things to do and was balanced. Not enough underwater games out there for my taste
BangTheWall
04. Oct 2022 · 11:01 UTC
@sneakylemon Definitely agree with you, the game is not as balanced as it should be. But I think that with more time to experiment with we can make it into a much better product

Thanks for the feedback

Nice work! The graphics look nice and the sounds produce a really dense atmosphere. I wasn't sure about the enemies, because they kept attacking and did not give me much time to explore. that might need some tweaking. The sonar pulses look really great. Especially the different colores it shows when it hits different things. Good work!
