Oracle of Colliding Realms by hunttis

[raw]
made by hunttis for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

Collect the gems from the layers of the levels! A new layer is brought in every 10 seconds! You can see a small preview of the layer approaching.

Cursor keys to move. Space or up arrow is jump. Down speeds up time. Level 2 unlocks double jump, just press jump button again in the air. Level 3 unlocks dash, use SHIFT key to dash forward.

Each level has three layers. Notice that some levels cannot be completed in a single cycle!

This game is so cute! I love all the art, and the name too. I think the levels are a good difficulty as well. It looks very clean, I guess the only thing to work on in the future would be more levels.
Good job!

This is a really good idea. You could build a full legit game from this. Terrific execution too. collisions and controls feel super polished!

Very cool little game with good graphic and balanced levels. It was fun to change the layers while jumping in mid-air to get to the gems, well done.

Very cool idea! I think the theme was slightly limiting here however, would have been cool if there was levels with faster cycles for example. The game was very well executed though, nice job!

The idea is good, and the game is fun to play. The 10 second rule made the game feel a bit slow. But else a well made jam game. Well done.

The controls feel a bit heavy and slow. I would also have liked to interact with the incoming layer before they fully replace the current layer to add a bit more complexity to the platforming. Otherwise, it's a cool concept and has a cute artstyle.

Awesome Game. Enjoyed the overall concept and gameplay. really enjoyed the 10 seconds factor you implemented in the game. A little more work from the SFX sides would have done wonder. To be honest, my opinion might ne a little biased here, cause I am a fan of these kind of games but still given the fact it was a jam, Good job and great efforts, keep it up. Please do check out my submission as well.

That's a cool idea, I enjoyed shifting layer levels every 10 seconds. The jumps are a bit floaty, but that helps a bit so you can be in mid-air when the transition occurs.

This is a really strong entry, good work! I enjoyed the puzzle of moving into place before the level arrives, although I didn't like how you just need to get lucky on the first rotation, a preview of where the gem's gonna end up would've been a welcome addition. It's short, would've gladly played a few more levels. The art is also great.

oh my gosh, i LOVE the art!! it's a really pretty style, and i love the colors that were chosen, as well as the animation for the character and the little clouds that pop out behind when the dash is used. the music set a really chill and relaxed mood, which i love! and the sound effects complemented the game, too. i think that seeing the next level coming up was really well executed, although i would've really liked to have seen the gem come up with the level as well, that way i could plan on where to move next. i think seeing a bit more variety on the columns (maybe different types of vines, or different patterns of vines) would've taken the overall look of the level to the next tier above how awesome the art already is. overall, i loved this game and it was really well done. good job, y'all!!!

A great take on the theme. The first 2 levels were rather easy, but the 3rd is a great finale to really utilize all of the abilities. I didn't even know I could double jump or speed up time until the 3rd level forced me to, which is great incremental design. Well done!

Great use of the theme! I liked also the graphics and music. I would have liked to be able to interact with the incoming platform a bit before it was "set", but otherwise great job!

Thank you everyone for the kind comments!

@tinysalad and @bison-warlock, we totally agree with including the gems in the level "preview" also. And we tried to implement it, too, but couldn't get it working properly before we ran out of time. :-/ Thank you for the feedback!

cute game with a very nice gameplay mechanic! i wish the layers would appear at the right time with some opacity change, because sometimes it was really hard to see where the new platforms would be. but maybe it was on purpose.

anyway, the art is nice, controls are fluid, well done!

Short but sweet. Nice puzzles and music! It would be nice to have the option to use WASD for controls, but overall pretty good.
