the perfect pancake
cooked ten seconds on each side
so gold and fluffy

Could you make 3 perfect pancakes and place them on the plate for me? Pickup and use items with left click, then drop the utensil with right click when you're done with it.

screenshot-2.gif

Use the Funnel to drop the batter onto the griddle. The perfect size is not too small or too big, should fill about 2/3 the plate.

screenshot-3.gif

The Spatula is there to flip the pancakes. Be sure to get that golden brown on each side! Be sure not to forget about a pancake or it'll burn.

Finally use the Tongs to grab your pancake and place it on the plate. Once you place 3 it's game over and I'll review how you did! So be careful to only use your best products. How close can you get to a perfect 100%?

I really like the graphics and the music, very impressive. The gameplay is fun, but sometimes a bit clunky, I can't explain exactly why, maybe because the camera moving with the mouse makes it a bit unprecise. But overall I love it, great job!

Also, opening the source code just crashed my browser. haha

@crocidb ya the camera was something I wish a had a little more time to dial in! Also with source hut crashing your browser... that's interesting. I'll try updating the link to point to the raw file, instead the fancy webpage.

Loved the pixel art style, I would think it would be extra difficult since the game revolves around circular objects, but you def made it work great.

Wow this is a really polished looking game! I love the feeling of it all and the laid back style. The scoring was a little confusing to me but I think I just enjoyed trying to make a nice pancake. THanks for the experience!

I love this game idea. One thing missing would be that the first pancake is always bad :)

Audio, visuals, animations are all on point. Some of the best I've seen so far! There's something satisfying about making the perfect pancake  Fun overall, if a little brief.

I kept running into a bug where I couldn't flip my third pancake, no matter what I did. It made the flip noise but it would just sit there, burning. :slight_frown:

Well polished. Wish I could get a rating for each of my pancakes. And I wish I could spill the batter. I had fun. Nice job.

very good innovation i guess, just one little problem for me when playing, it's a little hard to change the tool.before i could pick up the shovel the pancake cooked too much.

This was super creative! It was such a small game, but you delivered so well! I will say though, that it was quite difficult. I believe the best I did was around 80 on each pancake. Everything works really well together. The art, sounds, and gameplay are very cohesive. There's not much bad to say about this except for the fact that I do not know how the theme is incorporated at all. That's kinda a minor gripe though. Great job!

The presentation is very nice, great music, artwork is amazing.
It seems to be a bit buggy, sometimes I'm getting invisible pancakes that won't flip, and I feel the screen shake and camera pan are confusing and don't feel great. But overall this is awesome.

I enjoyed this game a lot even though I didn't fully understand the pancake ratings or what the perfect color was, or how many times to flip... I got to a 91 score but ran into a lot of bugs for the 3rd pancake flip, that was frustrating. Overall I'm glad this game was made!

Love the graphics! Music also really suits the game.

Very difficult to master, but fun to try to figure out how to make the *perfect* pancake!
The controls did feel a bit awkward at times, but eventually got used to it.

I like the take on the theme, very good job! 😀

Fun and challenging! I agree, it's a bit hard to quickly change the tools, but with a bit of practice and organization it's doable.

I quite like how such a simple concept can make you want to improve and get the most perfect pancake.

This is the first I heard of Fennel, looks like an interesting language!

This could easily be turnet into a whole game! Maybe a food-truck owner that specialices in pancakes? Nice!

Game is great and overall is well polish. Sometime I can't turn around my pncake without knowing why the 2 first was easy and the last just don't want to move, burning all the food trying to make it move. I don't figure out the notation at the end I was thinking that is a prcentage score but find sometime negative value. Otherwise well done and keep coding !

Gorgeous graphics, lovely music, great relaxing feel - which perfectly suits the game. I thought this was a fantastic bit of work and I had to have and bunch of goes to try and hone my skills. This is the sort of thing that makes game jams worthwhile! Only quibbles were that it seemed to be a bit buggy on the camera movement and trying to flip on the right-hand side, but this didn't make much of dent in the fun. Congrats on such a polished and enjoyable submission!

What a great idea! It took me quite a while to figure out how to flip a pancake, but that was part of the fun for me. The satisfaction of getting a good pancake was actually quite similar to real life!

This was really nice. I feel like you guys really managed to make a calm game with such a stressing theme. Music and graphics were perfect together, and it was soooo satisfying to do anything with the pancakes from placing batter, flipping to picking them up.

Good job, this was really satisfying for me! :3

This was a nice little game. The graphics were cute, as were the sfx and music, which together set a good mood.

The controls at times got in the way of me fully enjoying the relaxing element. They didn't respond the way I expected, and I still wasn't sure what I was doing wrong after a couple of tries. I also got a pancake in a weird spot where I couldn't interact with it anymore, so I had to start a new one. Overall, kind of minor, but I'd enjoy a version where some of these issues are smoothed out.

Overall, I enjoyed trying to make the perfect pancake. Thanks for this submission!

Mmmmmm, it's so satisfying. I love it.

Also, is this coded in Lua....?

@mr-rice its written in [Fennel](https://fennel-lang.org/), which is a lisp-like language that compiles to Lua!

I loved this game! It jumped around a lot for me, which kind of gave me motion sickness. If it wasn't for that, I would have kept playing it for much longer.

It was fun and simple, and above all, really original! Somehow, you *actually* nailed the cooking of pancakes in this game :P

I liked the idea, however I encouter some issues. I wasn't able to pick up some small pancakes, it made the screen shakes. Was a bit better in full screen but still had some issues. Other thatn that, good work! This game made me hungry :)
