Pablo's piñata party by Njitnelav
My submission for Compo Ludum Dare 51.
It is my second game I have ever made. Last time I only used static objects. So I now wanted to experiment with animations and have more features. Play in full screen mode.

It is immediately clear that a great job has been done. Cool style, nice sprites, good controls.
Platforms sometimes spawn in a column, making it difficult to move (sometimes you can almost get stuck), but this happens quite rarely
Also painted art is very nice!
The difficulty is just right not to easy not impossible.
Great game!
Now, my review:
- your core gameplay loop is fun, and controlling the character was pretty good!
- not knowing when the Piñata was going to burst or how many cacti were needed to pop it made me get a frustrating game over the first time I played
- graphics are... very programmer-y, but it's a good thing that they are all consistent and at you have a walk cycle which contributes well to the feeling of the character controls
- something weird is going on with your music: there was some kind of background noise in it probably caused by your recording method, and additionally it seemed like another song was playing at the same time?
- I appreciated the explaination of why we have to pop the piñata, seemed funny to me
- the mood, like the graphics, is pretty consistent and works well
Overall... **pretty good job** for your second entry!
