Temporal Rift by exigo

[raw]
made by exigo for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

A very simple game where monsters (kind of) phase in and out every 10 seconds (at least that’s how it was meant to be :stuckouttongueclosedeyes:). Player has to collect some memory cards from the station and exit through the airlock afterwards.

You can play the game as HTML5 on my itch.io page: https://exigo.itch.io/temporal-rift

The game was made with Godot. Graphics were mostly done with a very nice pixel art editor that I've discovered lately, called Pixelorama by Orama Interactive. Really amazing tool already at this stage of development, supporting animation frames with onion skinning, layers and cel linking, spritesheet exports, etc. Some graphics were also edited with Gimp. Those very few sounds that exist were randomized with BFXR.

Once again I struggled with the theme, "Every 10 seconds". Somehow it felt so limiting and it was hard come up with anything worth doing. The amount of problems and bugs encountered with Godot was quite depressing as well. The Viewport + Camera2D + Light2D glitches alone took hours to figure out. Nevertheless, I'm happy that I finished the game in time for a jam entry at least.
