Watch the cat by chispaLBC

[raw]
made by chispaLBC for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

That naughty cat... You can't leave him alone... You know he's up to something but you need to be sure to catch him red handed!

How to play:

  • Hold Space Bar to turn the lights off and wait 10 seconds. Realease the key to catch him!

This game was made in the last 6 hours of the Jam so it's a pretty basic game, but have fun!

Sounds and font are from the internet. Sprites and code made by myself.

Super solid! I like the use of sound and how it gets a bit trickier after the first time. The graphics are simple, but charming.

The purring is hilarious and makes the whole thing in the dark funny. Very cute, great job for only 6 hours of work! Can't wait to see what you can do with full jam time!

Quite fun. It's super easy if you figure out the audio is identical each time you turn off the light. Just count to 10 purrs and release spacebar. It could be improved by randomizing sounds in time.

I love this smug cat. Extremely funny how he breaks the clock after you catch him the first time. Nice job!

It was likely me but when I was following the clock at first it felt like the timing of ten seconds was off. The purring was a better indicator, and once you know the pattern, it was easy to get a streak. I did get freebie point on my second try as the score went from 1 to 3 xD

Love the purring sounds, and that smug cat. xD

Interesting proof of concept, or rather a "sketch" of a game, I'd call it! Definitely needs some sort of timer bar and then more levels... lots of levels, to catch the kitty doing bad things in many different ways. I would love to see where this game goes after the jam, as it has a huge amount of potential, especially for mobile like an iPad.

Nice little entry!

Loved the take on the theme and the gameplay. Getting rid of the clock after the first level was a nice touch and also made me realize how bad I am at internally keeping track of time.

The graphics and audio were neat and charming. Was that real cat purring?

Obviously this was a very simple entry since you made it in 6 hours, but it has loads of personality and I would have loved to see what it could look like if you spent the whole weekend on it.

I drew the cat (complete with mischievous appendage) and added it to the fan art compilation on [my profile.](https://ldjam.com/users/jeremy-ryan/)

Really enjoyed the game - a simple concept that's perfectly executed and funny to boot.

Great game! I love how the clock gets knocked off the wall, and the purring makes it difficult to count! Great design choices! All around great entry!

This is an insanely cute game! It was very simple and yet quite fun, and it was a fun choice to make the clock disappear. Great work!

@rincs the ticking noise should be working fine but i wouldn't be surprised if playing it in browser might add some delay. Either way thank you for playing ^^
