Break-New-Fast by Lsy

[raw]
made by Lsy for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

A breakfast casual game (?). The character needs to have a good breakfast in an increasingly incomprehensible world. The game lasts about 7 minutes.
bkg2.pngimg2.pngimg3.png Update 2022/10/12: Fixed the frame rate of web version. Fixed a bug that caused the game stuck while loading the ending scene.

Was a little slow at the start, but I smiled at how it evolved throughout the messages! a bit edgy but nothing to serious. A few surprises along the way! :)

It's the first time we've really made a game. We used an engine we've never touched before (Cocos Creator),and try to practice some technique while learning them like Dragonbones.
We wanted the player to experience the world getting more absurd and incomprehensible every 10 seconds, starting with a normal breakfast. At first There was a game objective to meet a dietary balance by having various kinds of food, which would be harder to achieve when the food gets weirder and weirder as the news and events goes on. Due to time limit, the food score system wasn't in the game.
The axe hanging from the cover is shown rotting and falling to the ground in the ending. This actually comes from an ancient Chinese story that symbolizes the rapid changing of the world.
Although the game is not finished well, I enjoyed the feeling of studying actively to complete the game. It's nice to experience making a game for the first time in Ludum Dare!

It's an interesting concept, but I definitely struggled to figure out what to do at the beginning and how to do it, though I think that may have more to do with the imbedded version being very hard to use due to screen size constraints. I thought the story got really interesting, and I would love to see where this goes from here.
