Paper Spirits is a tiny atmopsheric game about helping those who are lost.

Every 10 seconds, a lost soul needs help.

There is no end objective, it's just a vibe :-)

Beautiful game! That having said, a run button would've been nice :P
I'm also very concerned about using A and D to rotate instead of strafe. What kind of monster does that?

Nice graphic but A and D for rotate the visual make me mad ahahah

A little blinding, but the vibe is great. The sound when the spirits ascend or whatever is a little jarring, though. I agree with the other commenters that A and D to look around instead of strafing is annoying.

This is, indeed, a vibe! The aurora-like texture over the lake is absolutely beautiful, and the whole thing indeed has a tinge of sadness to it. I wish there was a bit of feedback being near/interacting with the water, like gentle ambient wave-sounds, or a small splash when the paper boats are released into the water. In spite of that, a very lovely experience.

@resacagames Sorry! I'm not a monster, honest.

@waddle That would be great, hope we can come back to this later.

@egle Thanks, you're right that would be nice to have. I have an idea in mind, will try to implement it after the jam 🤞

Very nice aesthetic. Wish there was a little more to do, but perhaps that's part of the appeal. Only real issue I have with it is the "spirit leaving" sound's volume relative to the music... it's almost a jump scare lol.

Really beautiful game. I love the water and aurora borealis lights. One minor gripe is I wish the boat faded away or there was a hole where water was cloudier/darker under the center because you can see the boat clip through the floor. The boundary very subtilty only appearing when you get close was a nice touch to make the world seem endless. Very relaxing. The mood really reminded me of Journey. This game is indeed a vibe. Good Job!

A really good looking game that has a soothing feel to it. music was fitting and gameplay was simple and easy to understand.

This is a hard type of game to rate, because I have to decide whether to evaluate it on its own terms, or Ludum Dare's. It's not even really a game, it's just kind of an interactive program, and the adherence to the theme is incidental at best, but none of that really matters in my opinion. It's clearly exactly what it wants to be. The only criticism I have that I think is really relevant is that the way the boats sink below the surface feels a little weird, but that aside. it's gorgeous, the music works very well, I love the way you're just placed in the environment without a start screen. I'm very it made, and I'm glad I got to play it, I'm just not sure why it was made for Ludum Dare.

Very beautiful game, the ambient sounds, the aurora in the center, everything works really well together to create this sense of place. Really enjoyed as many others rightfully put it, the "vibe" of this game haha. I'd be interested to see where you take this.

Great job friend :)

PS. The bright colors showed me how dirty my monitor is. I must now go clean it. Thank you

I love the mood, its got great atmosphere but I wish there was more to do gameplay wise. Would be really interesting to see what it could be with more time :)

Beautiful game, I really liked the colors and the paper boat models. It was difficult to see where the theme was without reading the description first, maybe there could have been some clearer visual effect when a new soul needed help. Other than that though I think it was a very nice experience.

Really pretty little game. I enjoyed floating(?) around a bit helping lost souls. I know the theme, but I almost wish the souls came a little slower so I had more time to just sit and chill!
