Ice B0mber by adriczero

Match gems and race against the ice bomber who is setting his bombs to blow up and freeze gems Every 10 seconds.

Earn bonus points to unfreeze cubes. Activate the unfreezer by clicking on the top right explosion icon or pressing 'z'. Once activated, your next click should be on a frozen gem. When you get to 0 you can't unfreeze anymore until you earn more.

Playing Tips: - Try to match as many gems as quickly as possible to earn unfreeze bonus points - If you click unfreezer (top right explosion icon) and click on an unfrozen gem, you need to click unfreezer again to re-activate. Your next click after activating unfreezer should always be a frozen cube. If you have a keyboard, the 'z' key can also activate the unfreezer.
Development Notes: - Game Engine: Phaser 3 - Code: JavaScript/WebStorm - Graphics: Affinity Designer - Audio: jsfxr

Bombs that cause freezing instead of fire is really creative! The animations were quite smooth too and I didn't really encounter any jankiness. Good job :)
I found a bug though.
If you klick an a batch of gems you wnat to remove very quickly it scores as many times as you click on them. :D
I managed to get 23k Points like that.
But overall well executed. Good entry. Keep up the good work.
The game is fun, has the right amount of challenge and does a good job at making you feel the desire to go for another run to further improve your score - I especially appreciated the fact that it keeps track of your best score between runs, and rewards you in case of a new record. My only minor critique is related to the unfreeze function, which feels a bit clunky and makes it really hard to keep pace with the new upcoming bombs.
In a game like this I wouldn't mind some background music, even a short loop, just to create a more immersive experience. But considering the restraints imposed by the jam duration I can see why gameplay mechanics took priority.
Good luck!
the unfrozen button should be accessible with a keyboard shortcut i think, because having to click on it then on the block to unfreeze is quite tedious.
