Entry for Ludum Dare 52 HARVEST
WEB VERSION DOES NOT WORK IN FIREFOX
Web version seems very flakey
I can't do a lot about this, Godot 4 takes advantage of some features that some browsers don't seem to support it is working in Chrome 108 (Windows x64)
Play as Bas (Bastian) and harvest, and plant various seeds to get to the exit.
Arrow keys for movement, Z to jump, X to plant, and A, S (or Q, W, thanks Mint) to switch between seed types or C to scroll through. If you get stuck Escape will reset the level.
Controller support - left stick or dpad for movement, B for jump A for plan, and shoulder buttons to select seeds - hit Start to reset the level.
I forgot the nerdy things - Game is made in Godot 4 Beta 10, Using Modified versions of some of Kenney's assets.
Sound effects, such as they are, from sfxr
I've previously attempted a platformer before in Unity, and I have to say, the tools that come with Godot are so much better and easier to get things done, Godot 4 is a step up again.
I didn't run into anything show stopping - although I'm used to Godot 4 as I've been building a project in it since the alpha versions

This could become a fun full scale game, congratulations.
I got stuck prety early with the red mushroom, but really enjoyed it.
The controls confused me a little cause I didn't read the description, but I found the right keys anyway and finished the game.
Had some neat mechanics that could be expanded on for a lot of interesting puzzles.
The jumping sound itself wasn't bad, I think it's high end just needs to be tuned down a bit to make it easier on the ears.
The vine and mushroom growing animations could be sped up a little bit since you are experimenting with the different seed positions. It starts getting tedious waiting on it, especially if you need to restart a level.
The first mushroom part was a clever one that took me a few tries but was a good puzzle, It might would work better later on after you have time to use the mushroom seed a bit more.
I could see this doing well as a casual puzzler or a platformer if you wanted to go that route.
Also, really enjoyed this. Adorable, compact little gem of a game. The sound effects and the art worked really well together and it was short but pleasant.
This a really tidy little game. The gameplay itself reminded me of Charmed Ridge in Spyro: Year of the Dragon (which certainly isn't a bad thing)! The controller support was very much appreciated, as well.
I think that if you were to expand on seed types and level layouts, it'd be easy to flesh this out into a fully-grown (ho-ho) puzzler. Congrats!
+ The levels were a bit too easy, but still well-designed.
+ Really liked the art style
+ It needs music!
The level design is really impressive, cheers to that.
Great job!!
A bit frustraiting that you can't climb back up the mushroom for people not great at jumping/platformers.
Especially as it's stem looks similar to the plant you can climb bumps.
Maybe if the mushroom was more rounded and drooping at the edges people could jump climb back onto them.
And the last level can be solved with 1 mushroom seed left :)
