Glitches-vs-Pix by kunzbe

[raw]
made by kunzbe for LD33 (JAM)
A glitchy game in which you play the glitch monsters which have enough of all the fancy pixel art and want to get their territory back.

Each time a glitch monster gets hit, you get 'glitch-ergy' to level up and the chance rises that new glitch portals will arise. Open and close these portals wisely to get rid of those pixel chunks as fast as possible.

Glitchportals can be open (blue + spining), closed (red), or are still in progress of being built up (yellow).

Recommended Browser: Chrome, newer versions. Do not even try Internet Explorer '^^

### Controls
# Control by mouseclick
spawn point (spiral) -> de-/activate
skill menu -> level up glitch monsters
(a yellow entry means that you have enough glitchergy)

# others
Enter -> enter first level
P -> Pause (recommended, let it glitch)
R -> regenerate level
ESC -> return to menu (recommended, some eye candy)

### tools
framework & graphics: libgdx
realtime music/sound: gibber(ish)

NOTE: there is still a performance issue to fix.
NOTE^2: some of the glitches may be features

UPDATE 28.August: FIXED gwt error for crossbrowser support. it is still recommended to use chrome.

Loved the idea of a sort of anti-tower defence where we spawn the monsters. Found it pretty fun and quite liked to music, which had a kinda mystical feel to it. I think being able to control where my glitches move too would be a cool addition.

This game is very strange but I like the concept (It remind me my own game, he he.) The idea is well executed but maybe the graphics are too radical to trying to improve it. The ui has more possibilities. Nice entry :-)

nice entry, but the game rendering slowed way down around level 18 spawn and speed

This almost felt more like a game of life sim. I couldn't really tell what I was doing, but the atmosphere was interesting.

Nice! First I didn't get the concept but finally it was good fun. Reminded me a bit of the game cookie clicker. Interesting how the melody changes its character when it accelerates!

I don't know how but this made me play more time than usual, that mezmerizing music... I don't understand how the game actual works but that didn't stopped me to reach up levels.

Amazing graphic style, love the light use and the perpetual movement of the sprites making everything to seem alive :P

Good work!

I didn't understand well how to play, but the concept seems great. Too bad that the graphism aren't live up. Music was great :)

I love seeing my glitches slowly eating their way through the screen :D

Always go for speed upgrades, you will beat levels in no time! (And the music gets faster and faster, which is awesome!)

Interesting concept, controls felt non-intuitive. Seemed like there was little strategy other than waiting to grow more spawners (maybe I misunderstood something).
