Antimatter Farmer by unnamed1334

[raw]
made by unnamed1334 for Ludum Dare 52 (JAM)

A game about building a space station to harvest antimatter from orbit around a planet.

Walk up or down ramps or around the edge of the platform to access more buildable space.

Create collectors to mine meteors.

Build assembly machines to turn the stone into useful components.

Collectors and assemblers will work when you end the day if there is enough power and heat capacity.

Solar panels need line of sight to the sun.

Radiators need line of sight to empty space.

Deconstructing refunds the resources spent.

Controls: W-A-S-D to move around U-I-O-J-K-L to rotate structures

Tab to swap between interact and build mode.

Left click to interact or build Right click to remove a structure.

Cool little movement system, The game is incredibly unclear as to what your purpose is, Would recommend instructions on the various options as you select through them instead of hanging in the main menu and being easily forgotten moments later.

Just some notes for how to prioritize the various nebulous things you can't really tell apart.

I kindof have to agree with @steamhat, I like the concept, but it's not very intuitive. On my first try I built two collectors, leaving me with no wat to get more structual resources to build an assembly machine, and effectively locking myself in

Being able to walk to the underside of the platform so smoothly is really neat, and I love the red 3D "X" shapes! My first run I built too many platforms and couldn't progress lol, so perhaps there could be more of a warning about that. Really cool stuff overall!

I really like the concept here! The ability to walk around any side of the station (and even walk around/on top of the assembly machines) was really cool, and I can see some fun potential there if you decide to expand this game after the jam. The logical building rules were great, such as solar panels needing line of sight to the sun, and radiators needing open space to function properly.

I think I ran into a bug that prevented me from making voltaic resources (assembly machine ran out of power and stopped producing before it was able to create its first batch, which in turn prevented me from building any solar panels). However, I think you have a lot of cool ideas here and I'd love to see more of this one after the jam if you continue working on it. Nice job finishing the jam!
