Click Click Farm by boaheck-artgent

[raw]
made by boaheck-artgent for Ludum Dare 52 (JAM)

CCFTitle.png

Welcome to Click Click Farm, a game in which you... click and click and farm. Then eventually once you've clicked enough you can automate the clicking away so you can feel a true emptiness of mind and ultimate calm euphoria while lovingly watching NUMBER GO UP!

Update 13/01/2023: The game was updated to fix bugs and incorrect data and support a windows version in the first few days after release. As of today Release LD1.07 adds Linux Support but also adds some new UI. This is just a Menu button to bring back up the menu where controls are listed and a quit button in the menu for non web builds to better support playing in fullscreen. If you feel those additions are not within the spirit of the jam you can download the Windows LD1.06 release which does not feature those 2 buttons.

Note: Although there are no sound effects I am opted into being rated on sound because I made the music.

It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to figure out you have to spam click to grow crops. The music was fantastic and I thought the gameplay was really nice too. I thought at first the money were pests or something trying to eat my crops, but all in all this turned out to be a very chill fun game. :)

This is too fun. I can play it all day. Kudos! I can't wait for the mobile version. Maybe just dim the color of the locks a tad.

Very chill game and really nice take on the classic clicker game! The graphics and audio are both fantastic! Great job for making all this in just one weekend :D I really love the overall concept of the game, as it is both familiar and new! However, I felt that the gameplay was a bit lacking, since it just got easier and easier. It would be nice if there was some difficulty increase as players bought more items/levelled up.

I've enjoyed this a lot!

The game is very addicting and therapeutic - you can really sink hours into this without realizing it. The simple graphics are charming and pleasant to look at and the music definitely fits the relaxing and fun mood this game has.

I wish I could hold the button down to buy new land quicker once you have all the tools at your disposal; a rectangle select/fill tool would also be perfect to try out different planting patterns now that I have two million dollars to toy with. Higher variety in plants would be nice just to have more different colors, but it's really not necessary.

One thing that I love about clicker games is the addictiveness. You click once and realize its 3am, but you dont care and continue. I enjoyed this one very much! I will most likely return to this one later :D Good job

@nikitavychuz yeah I'm definitely adding ways to operate on multiple tiles in an update at some point. It's unreasonable to expect players to click 65000 times if they want to unlock every tile.

Woah the art is really nice and the music sounds good. I'm not a good clicker so it was really painful for me to click a thousand times per minute

But overall, really great job, bravo!

Wow this is great - I was going to come and ask you to add some kind of brush tool. I love how this snowballs and that it feels great along that journey. Well done such a chill vibe!

Very very very addictive. Played way longer than intended. A few cool features would be:
Hold to plant multiple seeds (maybe it can be an unlock able upgrade)
Balanced item drops? I got the last sprinkler before I got a harvester... was a little frustrating

Otherwise... yeah... I finished the field. Good job :D

This is my kind of game, my favorite so far on the jam as well! Keep it up! Why have you not submitted in compo though? @boaheck-artgent

Good job, got me hooked for more than I'd like to admit haha. Would love additional metrics, like $ per second, handy to know at a glance, also a overlay for where the sprinklers/harvesters would pick up would be handy. Great work though!! :)

Really nice game! Love the artwork and the music track. The game play loop felt really nice slowly expanding and growing. Wish there was a few more sound effects but overall great job! I can see myself coming back to this one for sure.

Nice game, the interface works well and I really like the music.

I made something like a clicker game myself (I'm surprised I haven't seen more of them) although we took it in different directions.

Nice, I like this game it's like cookie clicker but with building. The music is awesome! I could just leave it open and do other things and have it loop the music. Not sure what the drop rate for the carrot was but it finally dropped for me as the last thing. (My luck probably just sucks.) Was a good fun little experience.

This is lovely. I played it a lot longer than I should have. The art is perfect for it, the music is just wonderful, and there's just enough here to hook me in and wonder what would come next. This might be one I come back for after the jam, if you do decide to add some more features. Well done!

Simple but effective! I could definitely see it being fleshed out into something with more content and more gameplay maybe outside the farm itself. It would make for a fearsome timesink for sure. The music is very nice too!

Really really cute game! I liked the music a lot. The beginning was a bit slow, but once it picked up I wanted more upgrades to chase! Great job!

@marton this was made in 72 hours and so is only suitable for the jam. I've been doing Ludum Dare for 9 years now and always entered the jam, 48 hours is just not enough for my workflow.

@juzdepeche and @adamwigs I intend to add an auto clicker as an accessibility option in the post jam updates. You will be able to set it to either toggle or hold and adjust the click rate to your liking. I think it would be unfair to put this behind an unlock as you only really do that much clicking at the start of the game. Thank you for playing!

This was so relaxing and satisfying to play! I really love the way the pickups moved towards the mouse cursor automatically, it felt fantastic. The music was really nice to and set the vibe for the whole experience perfectly. Who doesn't like it when the numbers go up? Great stuff as always!

It definitely plays different than our idle game. Having the crops be limited to the number of seeds you have works really well. I think the sprinklers and harvesters upgrades were far too cheap and think some limiter like with the seeds would help balance these. For example instead of the plants dropping a sprinkler upgrade, have them drop a sprinkler part. Then you need 1 for a level 1 sprinkler, 4 for a level two, 9 for a level 3, etc. Still fun to play though.

@bcmpinc yeah sadly I had to rush implementation of the unlock system. In hindsight it should be a lot more difficult and expensive to get some of the higher level automation. There's lots of things I really want to add to this but it definitely needs some balancing for the first post jam version.

I really liked this!![Harvest_3E0udV8gPR.png](///raw/0af/e1/z/565dc.png)

The late game difficulty offered no reason to keep doing stuff after the automation though, so I just tried to make something that efficiently used the automation I did have. I was a little messed up by the fact the largest harvester is 5 tile but the largest sprinkler is 7. I kind of wish I could sell land back for aesthetic reasons, lol. Had to stop myself from going "well I accidentally bought the land, better automate to use it!"

I would have loved a lot more seeds and technology. Stuff that could only be gotten through automation (either by gatekeeping or just extremely high prices) too, so that there's a reason for it. But, I still enjoyed it a lot. Very fun clicker, it's rare to find clickers that have a real sort of world to click on instead of just buttons that represent concepts. I would really love to play a more fleshed out version of this.

Edit to add: I forgot to mention, but I ended up downloading the .exe because for some reason the Godot html5 audio crackling issue was really bad on the itch.io page, except when I went to another tab where the music would play perfectly lol. I still don't know much how to optimize Godot audio crackling myself, but thought I'd share that it's pretty heavy in this entry.

I liked this wayyy more than I thought I would upon first look. This is even better than a clicker game, because you actually plant and harvest crops and play an active role. And as you put it, number go up is satisfying. Good job! You captured that rare "I need to play more!" reaction

Really pretty graphics, but gameplay felt unsatisfying for a clicker-game imho :pensive: I think its because you have to click for a rather long time (and also aim at grid slots - which slows you down even more) to harvest and plant before you get harvesters. Also wanted more feedback - could not realise if sprinklers and harvesters were working.

@renrok yeah there's a lot of balance issues right now to be fair, it's likely the rng wasn't kind to you with the drops, those should probably be less randomised. I'm sorry you didn't find it satisfying, thanks for the honest feedback I'll keep it in mind when I work on a post jam version.
