Juicy Reaping by Kita

ABOUT:
3D first-person shooting and farming game.
Take on a role of a farmer who decides to save his life by planting and harvesting vegetables and fruits that were genetically modified to serve as weapons. Fight against angry meloncopters and jumpkins, collect seeds that they drop and plant those to keep yourself alive for a little longer.
All the assets were made by us and we used Unreal Engine 5.
Keep in mind:
- You can only collect one type of seeds at a time (and carry max 5 of them).
- Each kind of seed produces a different weapon-plant kind.
- You can plant only in the appropriate area.
- Every weapon has limited uses, when you run out of them, the weapon is destroyed and you will equip your trusty shovel.
- Eat a seed to heal yourself.
- If you harvest a plant, you will equip it as a weapon immediately (any previous weapon is discarded).

@ahintoflime Yea! We definitely had a lot of fun developing this game, as some of the ideas were surprisingly more funny(and actually funny) when we implemented them, so we had quite a bit of laugh ourselves too haha! Thanks for enjoying the game!
@aznz Thanks for liking it, we wanted to have at least a bit interesting dynamic of the mechanics, hopefuly it was somewhat achieved! Our artist will be happy to see you like her designs!
@nikkunakku Thanks! We wanted to avoid having more than one weapon at once to allow some sort of strategizing and dynamic, we think it could become spammy and would kill the the idea of planting and managing what you choose, thanks for the feedback tho!
@nostresswes Thanks! The heal was actually an idea later in the development as we realized the player actually should have some sort of heal in the midst of the floods of the enemies!

I was fighting for my life
@monoh-behavior, @wolkp, @minakorii We are happy to hear you enjoyed our game, thank you for telling us!
@caeonosphere, @she-wrote - you are right, the spiky seeds could have had a bigger collider. Thank you so much for your feedback!
Enemies are funny (even if deadly :fearful: ) . mechanics are nice
In my opinion the pace is a bit too fast, it gives you no resting moments and the feedback of hitting/missing is not always satisfying but dudes, it's a really nice entry. Thanks
@avi Thanks! The expansions would be definitely possible! But considering it was a game jam we didn't even consider those options haha Glad you enjoyed it!
@maimai Yes, and considering unreals sometimes buggy physics, if you try to jump through a bunch of enemies, sometimes it can block push you in the air too! Thank you for enjoying it!
@leggy Glad you found it funny, at least Im not the only one who was laughing haha! And yes, the resting moments _were_ planned, short breathing ones, but as you probably know how it goes through game jams, it didnt make it! The same goes for hitting/missing, had we not have final hour problems there would be more feedback, too bad. Thanks for the feedback though and for enjoying it!
Reading the description, I was a bit worried that the game was going to be over-scoped, and be too confusing to play. It was very approachable though!
The only real complaint I have is that the motion blur made me want to puke. Not sure what's going on there.
As far as bringing it to the "next level", here would be my advice for a post-jam 1.1 update:
- Better feedback when an enemy is being targeted/damaged
- Tamer controls, and fix the motion blur
- In general paunchier sound effects to go with the attacks/damage/etc.
But really, fantastic job !
I do wish the enemy spawns scaled up slower and that seeds didn't act as mini walls but maybe multiple farming patches would solve that. Maybe a slight buff to healing too.
Very fun little game and it's a nice and hectic way to spend a few minutes seeing how far you can get! Nice 3d models and I appreciated that you could still attack with the shovel if your weapon runs out. If you work on more games like this, it would be fun to see a co-op version!
I very much enjoyed the art from what I could see, with the different fruit and vegetable enemies all looking very distinct and cute.
I would love to see the concept expanded in the future.
