Fruit Picker xTreme by Ananace

[raw]
made by Ananace for Ludum Dare 52 (COMPO)

Really didn't have much luck in the available time department this year, only really managed to get around 8-9 hours of time I could spend fully on making the game.
But it's nonetheless playable enough for me to consider it a (very minimally viable) game prototype nonetheless. The core feature is in place, but everything else is just not there.

There's fruits to be picked though, albeit only pineapples, and only from a fixed set of plants, all on the very foreground of the 2.5D world.

Missing features; - Growing more plants (the sorting refuses to work and puts all new elements behind everything) - Parallax (Simply didn't have time for this, even though all the components should be in place) - Randomized plants (Also a lack of time) - Idler elements (Lack of time here as well) - Audio (Made a music track, but it sucked and was more than an order of magnitude larger than the entire rest of the game binary)

  • Windows build is far from perfect (Turns out that VC doesn't actually implement C++17 correctly, so it requires changes to build)

The idea is simple and pretty fun. It is a bit difficult to see when you are suppose to make the harvest. Some more of the content would also have been great, but I understand that you not had more time to make the game. Overall an okay little jam game.

It looks like you planned on making an idle/clicker game? That was one of the ideas I had before my final idea popped into my head.

I wish it were more obvious when a fruit is ripe. After 5 minutes or so of playing, it still wasn't clear how points are calculated.

What game engine did you use?

Yeah, was planning on having particles and a flash when a fruit goes between stages, but well... time waits for no man.

@justin-c It's all just plain old C++ with SFML and EnTT, so not really any engine involved.

I also used only C++ with OpenGL. And I know how hard it is to deliver something that can be played. Congratulations!!!
