Wheat Reaper by oleg20111511

Play Wheat Reaper to harvest an infinitely growing wheat field
Controls:
WASD - move
Left Click - harvest
E - load harvest into cart
Gameplay:
After you start the game and read a short dialogue (Unskippable! Sorry :( ), next step is to move over a wheat field and click to harvest it. Harvested wheat goes to your inventory, and, after you harvest 10 wheat, you can harvest no more and you have to drop your wheat into cart in the top right. After you fully load the cart with 30 wheat, farmer comes and takes the cart away to unload it.
Tools used:
Game Engine: Unity
Visuals: Aseprite
Audio: FL Studio, Audacity
I initially jumped in to learn how to make sounds for my games myself, and as you can kinda see I failed miserably at it. However, I still hope you'll enjoy playing this simple harvesting game!

Good:
- Simple Concept
- Simple Loop
- Details for regrowing fields (Visuals, Fields do not regrow in the same order)
- funny dialogues
- chill audio
Bad:
- nothing too apparent
Ugly:
- too simple loop, a few seconds are wasted into idling
Graphics are good, audio fit in and the story is hilarious.
The loop lack of difficulty, something to annoy you during the harvest.
It's pretty solid !
Anyway, good job!
I like that the growth rate was randomised, so I couldn't do the same pattern all the time.
Dialogue was great.
I did a couple fields worth then gave up, as it started to feel too repetitive.
Would have been nice if there were a few more gameplay decisions/actions that could be taken.
I make this mistake as well, too much polish, too much detail, and too little gameplay. I love the pixelart, I like the animations, also the sounds and music are very good.
Otherwise, I did enjoy it! It was fun to sit down and mess around with for a little while, and you should be proud of finishing it in 48 hours!
I feel the point about the lack of gameplay - it's something I wish I had more time to work on. As I did point out in the description, my focus was sound design, and it took me a good half of the entire 48h development time. When I was publishing it I actually felt bad about the quality of the audio, but, since a lot of people here liked it, that means my worries were baseless. Thanks everyone again for the kind reception!
And I'd like to point out again that the harvesting is endless and it is the only aspect of the game, so don't make the mistake of trying to harvest it all in hope for something new happening - it's just as simple and plain as it could be.
One suggestion would be to add some sound or other indicator when you try to havest with 10 wheat in your bag. I ran into this situation multiple times and everytime thought this is a bug at first
As already mentioned the gameplay is a bit more on the simpler side, but still a cool entry!
The dialog was pretty funny, the reaper being sucked into working by a farmer with a powerful personality. Excellent work :heartpulse:
