In this job, you reap what you sow...

Story

This tooth fairy is trying to save up enough teeth for retirement (he never quite explained what that means though…) and decides that letting nature take its course is too slow.

In this game, you play as a tooth fairy with a day job working at a candy stand. Make your stand as enticing as possible for the children so they can speed up the process of wiggling out those pesky baby teeth.

Then at night, it’s time to harvest. You’ll assume your true form and sneak into homes to collect your bounty. If you were a good sales-fairy, you’ll find some extra teeth under their pillows, wedged free from caramels and chewy delights.

But if you get caught, you’ll be chased out into the street with nothing to show for it! So be careful.

And no, we don’t know what he does with all the teeth…

Controls

Day * A-D keys: Move to each slot at your stand * Shop Button: Toggle open Shop menu * Place Button: Place item in the slot you’re standing in * I key: Toggle Info screen * E key: Start your day

Night * Home Navigation Menu: Use arrows to select a house to harvest * Space bar: Mash space bar when prompted to collect your teeth

Day Shift

Move between slots at your stand with A - D on your keyboard.

Click the Shop button in the top-right corner to buy candy, use the Place button next to each item to set the item out for sale in the slot you’re standing in. Be careful, as you can place over an existing item and lose it forever.

Customers will look for their favorite candies, but if you don’t have them, they may haggle to buy a second favorite for less. Or they’ll just walk away angry and you make no money.

You have until Sundown to sell as much candy as you can - and hopefully you’ll be able to find more teeth when the Night Shift starts…

Night Shift

At night it’s time to reap what you sow…

You scan through the neighborhood to find houses that you think you can sneak into to collect your bounty of beautiful teeth. Hopefully your time at the Candy stand will have wiggled a few teeth free for your collection.

Choose a house, then mash the space bar in time. If you’re fast, you can grab your treasure before anyone notices. Don’t worry, you’ll leave some cash behind as part of the trade.

If you fail in your task, you’ll be spotted and chased out into the street with nothing to show for it! So be careful.

You have until Sunrise to complete your dark harvest. Maybe you’ll finally earn enough teeth to retire and get that dream house in the bog you’ve always dreamed of.

First all, this art style is awesome!!! One of my favorite of this game jam for sure!!! I just wish that the gameplay had more meat, but you know, game jam and all. Great work I trully enjoyed my time!

I really liked the idea!!

I didn't see the need to have 2 buttons (1 to buy and 1 to put on), I think 1 button would be better. Other than that detail, great game!!

Don't know why, no one appeared while I played, Couldn't do much (maybe I missed something). The artstyle and idea for "harvesting teeth" is veeeery cool and unique, a shame I couldn't experience it personally. Great submission nonetheless <3

@pedro-d-almeida Sorry if it's not communicated well, but you can try pressing the E key to start your day and the kids start coming to the shop

Came here because of your thoughtful feedback, and wow! I'm really impressed you made a two separate games essentially for day and night, what a cool concept! Loved the attention to detail with the particle effects being little teeth, and I was genuinely happy for this little gremlin when they got to retire. Also wow, what visceral sound effects...

I was wondering, do the shirts of the children always correspond to what candy they choose, or is it just a preference? Sometimes kids would show up with a chocolate shirt but when I tried to give them that candy they'd make off with something else... maybe they are just being fashionable or something. Anyways, well done!

Good concept. The revers teeth fairy, I didn't think of it, good work.

@cat-chef the children have up to 3 candy preferences, their first preference being put on their shirt. Unfortunately they have already made their choice at spawn so they dont reconsider even if you correct the inventory.

Haha, super concept this one. Like the cause and effect thinking off feeding candies to kids and then stealing their teeth. Funny!

A very funny idea for the theme and a very good execution!
The sounds during the night shift were very funny too!
There was a small bug (I think) were I would place multiple candies at once and try to place multiple of them, the candies were gone but only one were put on my stand, so I lost some money...

Love the concept and the art! I have mixed feelings on the shop mechanic, since with the shop open I can't see the children approaching, so the game elements kinda get in the way of each other, if that makes sense? I wish I could just click and drag to restock from somewhere that's always on screen. Otherwise great!

Fun game! I love the dichotomy between the day and night! It's really cool that you get to go through the whole harvesting process in this one, from planting seeds to reaping crops, if you know what I mean ;). The visuals and aesthetics of the game are really cool too. Nice work on this!

I think the whole idea was great -- the tooth fairy driving the tooth market? Nice!! What a great (and creepy) are design! Great job there. Would you buy candy from this creep?? Haha

During the day, you might have just kept the shop open the whole time, maybe integrated it into the top of the screen (where there was more real estate, not blocking customers). I did try to wait and see what customers wanted before stocking, but it seemed like they made up their mind on available options as soon as they entered. Oh well :)

I think the night shift could have been more engaging if it were faster paced. Waiting for the animations in and out of the homes slowed it down. But really, with such simple controls, this would port well to mobile!

_Note: I had to install Visual C++ distributable as a prerequisite to play, but the launcher took care of it all for me!_

The gameplay is fun and the artwork is fantastic. This has to be one of the most creative ideas I have seen from the jam so far. The only issues I had was at least once during each day sequence there would be a child who would get candy that did not correspond with what was on their shirt. Overall fantastic work.

Great concept! I wish there was more tooth yield for harder houses. But good job!

First of all, on house entry we had a little count of time to read the caption. A bit misunderstood were kids, who make a Sad Face without seeable reason. Should be better with timer to know when is your shift ends.

Overall, thank you for this game, we like it!

I love the take on the theme, really creative! The visuals were great, but I found the gameplay a little on the lacking side- while I love a good spacebar mash, the "day" part of the cycle could easily be perfected by buying what the next child wants, replacing it exactly as they purchase it. I know with game jams it's all a give and take though, and it's hard to have everything- so well done on a game that looks so polished!

This was a really creative idea for a game keeping the theme in mind. The day-night cycle worked really well. I love the tooth fairy flying animation that plays at the start of the night. Also I don't know guys but I don't trust the tooth fairy's intentions, be careful xD.

I really enjoyed this game. One of the better submissions from this jam. I find the idea very original and unique, having the tooth fairy sell candy during the day that affects how many teeth the tooth fairy can collect at the night. the only request I have is I wished there be a time bar that would show how much time you have left during both the day and night cycles.

Overall: An amazing entry, great job on this. Love to see more of this.

The day part of the game was perfectly easy, but I can't really do the night bit, personally. Maybe it'd be easier with a controller, but it was way too hard for me to get a single tooth. I realized eventually it wasn't a certain amount of time you're meant to mash, but to fill entire the meter, but it's too much for me to mash enough to get it much higher than the bottom of the bar. A sort of red-light green-light mini-game instead may have been more my jam. Still a great entry though, I loved the 2.5D art and the humor of the scenario

I love the use of the theme in this one! The art style was the perfect mix of cute and creepy too. Unfortunately I didn't find the gameplay particularly fun. It would have been more interesting for the shop to have less slots than the number of candy types, although I didn't play for long as the game softlocked after enter the first house on the night shift. I'd love to see this idea developed further! Great work :)

Very unique idea, probably the most oddball one I've seen yet. It's one thing to harvest teeth, but to "grow" cavities in people beforehand is a very clever way of leaning into the theme even further.

I do like my shopkeeper games so it was a nice, though simple implementation of one. Tbh I had a bit of trouble keeping my money up between the days, but I at least got to experience the loop a couple times. Mashing was totally fine with me. I was impressed you went through the trouble of even implementing different houses to choose from.

Looks like you have a team this time around instead of a solo venture. It's good to have more firepower! Hope to see it continue to grow and churn out more LD games in the future.

The idea for the game is so hilarious!
It's also nice how he gives their money back to them so they can spend it again!
The background is quite cool how it has the moon going down
I got to the end but I was spamming space so I didn't get to see what happened
