Monster(モンスター) by ArthG

[raw]
made by ArthG for LD33 (JAM)
Journey through the darkness. Bring your victims to their ultimate fate.

(Best enjoyed with headphones.)

Controls:

A - Go Left
D - Go Right
Space - Jump
W - Slash

Slashing close to the victims makes them jump, but if your blade touches them, they die.

Chase your victims to the end, and follow them.

Cool. I like how you're herding your victims instead of killing them on the spot.

Pretty hard to "slash" without killing them, a reset button would be nice ;)
Good job

The concept is very interesting. Nice, for a second Ludum Dare participation !

The sound is appropriately creepy. But I found that my victims would often not stop running, and all fall like lemmings down a hole.

Interesting premise, a bit hard to keep up with the victims and I would like a reset button, but all-in-all I liked it. Fun sound design.

Very creepy! A reset button would be a welcome addition. I like the herding mechanic, having to refrain from slashing people was a lot harder than I expected!

This is a really neat concept, but the controls need work.

Super challenging! I included it in part 4 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/NqmWO8MUX6c

I literally had a laughing attack for like 10 minutes due to this game... Omg this is amazing! I really love the idea. Forcing your victims to things against there will is about as much of a monster you can get!

What I liked

The mechanics were very creative and I liked that.

What needs Improvement.

forcing your guys to jump is hard... Just the timing of their jump is hard to nail down. Also there is no reward for freeing the victims.

There's pretty much no repercussions for killing them, and no way to get them back, even when you die. They don't really get chased well.

Liking the concept, as mentioned above a way to reset would be welcomed.

Really liked the idea. The idea of chasing your enemies instead of killing them was pretty well made and implemented. Good job!

Love the concept! Wish there was a reset button to get my people back and try again.

Nice game ! You could add more obstacles ;), but the end is really cool (particularly the red screen with the sentences, really creepy !).

Interesting concept! Must admit that I slashed more than I herded...
