Harvest Mouse by Surfa
Harvest Mouse
Live out a day as an average harvest mouse; fighting spiders and consuming their corpses to power up your stamina meter. The most accurate harvest mouse simulator ever seen!
Make your way through the fields of wheat for seemingly no reason! Where are you trying to get? Who knows, you're a mouse!
Watch out, though; you have many enemies, some of whom are much larger than you...
Fight off your vicious foes using light and heavy attacks, avoid enemy attacks with your exceedingly nimble dodge, and try to not run out of stamina while doing so.
Seek out enemies to power yourself up for the final show-down, or you might end up cheesed off.
Speed through the game with minimal stamina and see what time you can get (timer sold separately).
Controls
WASD - Move
Left Click - Light Attack
Right Click - Heavy Attack (aim with cursor)
Space + WASD - Dodge
Uses ITCH.IO build in links below for fullscreen support.
Notes from developers
Produced in 1.5-2 days of the Jam because we originally were exploring a different idea which took up a fair amount of our time. So there is a lot of rough edges and most of the art is first-pass. Thanks for looking at our game and I hope you enjoyed it.

The embed at the top of this page should have worked too.
itch.io version now live, thanks for letting us know
Two boss fights with completely different mechanics is not easy to make (even though I think they could have been a bit more difficult). ;)
Well done anyways !
Not sure if this was me only, but targeting with heavy attack was rather complicated. I would also suggest dodge use another resource rather than stamina. For example I got crowded by spiders after unsuccessfully trying to hit them with heavy attacks and could not dodge out of their way.
But overall had fun, looking forward to see something new from you in the future.
I had a weird one-time issue on itch where I couldn't move on the first load, but then I played the embed without issues, and then itch worked fine too.
It was good fun to zoom around with the little mouse. Great work, especially on a budget timer.<3

@bloodycoin @glaikunt The idea was that Larry the leek was to be the 'final' optional boss. We had it designed in an optional level if you attacked him. We produced a carrot-man enemy that you can see in the title screen and a few new tile-sprites but ran out for time for creating larry the leek's boss logic. It was something we wanted to do as a nod to our original idea we scrapped, it was to be a 3D platformer featuring larry the leak and escaping from a combine harvester.
The idea for another meter for dodging is interesting. Originally we wanted harvesting the enemies to give different bonuses but again ran out of time before we were able to re-vist the idea and left it with just stamina.
@snoopyholmes Thanks for reporting that bug. I think it might be to do with the default settings we used for a lot of navigation work within GODOT. Will require a little more digging but we won't update the game as we like to leave it in the state it was in when the Jam timer finished (unless it is completely broken).
@ghastlymicrowave @yamzho Thanks for the feedback. We were worried about it being too hard and people missing out on the content we created so it was toned down from our original difficulty. We are all big fans of difficult games but think that they don't allow for accesibility in a game Jam setting.
@ditam We wanted there to be more interesting environments as well but alas we prioritised a smaller experience. Ideas we had were - inside of a tree/log, within someones house/garden and a farm area.
The early parts was super promising. I liked that you showed off the cat fairly early. Like others, I actually thought the concept of being a rat in a field was really engaging and I hadn't really had that experience before. Having a nice, powerful dash really sealed the deal since you could scurry around like crazy, as a mouse should.
Overall I loved the idea. Dark Souls but a field mouse is a great pitch lol.
