This is a very cool concept with a nice aesthetic. It seems like getting past the seconds level is impossible however.

@crashbashash unless it's some weird device-specific bug, then the second level should be possible! It might be a bit difficult at the start, but all the levels have solutions. Thank you for the kind words anyways!

Ah wow what a cool game! Everything is perfect except for one tiny detail. There should be a screen at the end of the game to show all of your speedrun times so I can post a screenshot of my legendary splits! Absolutely incredible game. The cut mechanic to give you extra height is such a cool idea, and the puzzles around it are well made. the background is stunning (the foreground too) and the music is great. Oh and, this game has SECRET LEVELS??? (I went back and found them. good lord, this is a contender for first place.) They remind me of the Celeste B-Sides. Plus, that music change is rad.

Seriously excellent work for a team of one!

Really cute and polished game! The Gameplay is also very fun, the only thing i have to say that putting the slice attack on control kinda hurt my arm on those turn around jumps for some reason, i would have preferred it on the mouse i think and i cant seem to go past the second level, i only falls down and die after going to the right

I love me a good platformer and this was a really great one! I must confes that I was completely stumped at first, as I thought the first level was impossible. I really did not manage to make that jump. That was before I figures out that cutting wheat gives you a jump. Then everything suddenly made sense and I had a great time :D
I missed the coyote time and I felt the hitboxes of the spikes were a bit big, but that could all not take away from the fun and extremely addicting gameplay. I loved that you mixed up the traditional platformer mechanics with something new. The gamefeel was also great, with the small squash and stretch, and the quick respawn times.

Great submission! I absolutely loved it :)

amazing game, very polished and really fun but for some reason i keep getting the level failed screen on level 2 when walking off the right hand edge after successfully getting all 5 wheat, not sure if this is a bug or if there's some extra mechanic i'm miss understanding.

@caplucky & @copito oh I'm sorry I understand what's going wrong now, the level you're talking about doesn't continue past the silo and is one of the "secret" levels, you can go back after you beat it once. The visible shadows connect the main levels. Sorry about the confusion!

It's probably the best game of the jam i played yet.
I'm not a big platformer fan but the gameplay is really fluid and fun.
The game may be a bit hard but, i love the die and retry style.
I would have love a control maping option.
Still, excellent work.

This game is very polished! I love the mechanics! But some levels seems to be glitched because clearing them results a death instead of getting to the next level :/

Neat and very well made platformer!

Navigation between levels was a bit confusing and at some point I ended up in starting level and not sure if I played all main ones or just walked back somehow. I really liked to see green wheat on one of the completed levels. Not sure why I did not see it next time (I guess the progress restarted?)

Also what kind of a tool do you use to make such an awesome music?

I like the idea of how the harvesting affects movement. The difficulty curve is best described as a brick wall tho

This might just be a major skill issue on my part, but I couldn't get past the first jump :D

Very solidly made game! I felt like the player hitbox was a smidge unforgiving when coming near the spikes, but that was probably the most major problem I faced and I got used to it fairly quickly.

Very tight platforming, very fun mechanics, and a nice puzzle element as well. That harvesting crops makes you bounce/launch into the air is _really_ fun and feels really nice.

Graphics are crystal clear and the audio is on point.

@antsa probably not a skill issue, you can't make the jump without using the slash's mechanic, if you're not doing that :>

Super clean game, movement is some of the most satisfying I've played this jam. Loved the detail of the wheat turning green when the area's been completed. I saw the progress early into the jam and I've been waiting to play this one!

@belonzik I actually tried using slash too while jumping, but I couldn't make it increase my jump height or speed

@antsa cutting the wheat while in the air should give you a boost, I'm sorry if that's not that clear.. :<

This is a very well-made game with smooth animation and movement, however I admit I couldn't go very far due to the controls.

I'm not sure CTRL is the right binding for something you do as often as slashing since you have to hit it with your little finger. I couldn't get my left hand to handle direction, jumps and slashes with those controls. Using arrow keys for movement would work a lot better, I think.

I also suggest using scancodes so that people with non-QWERTY keyboards (such as AZERTY) can use their equivalent of WASD without having to change the keyboard layout.

I struggled with this game. Excellently made! Really great graphics and music, incredibly precise controls, but I gave up when I got to HOLE. I'm not good enough at games to play it. Occasionally it felt like I should have gotten a pass on the slash and the game said I missed, but again, skill issue. And I mean, I used the right-ctrl with my right hand to do the slash; I can't imagine how any of these single-handed people got as far as they did. Honestly, could be great/Celeste-like as a fuller version with better tutorializing/button assignment. Edit: I did beat the first level, RAVINE, and MUD before I got to HOLE

Cool visual and i love how character animated.

I also want to mention the pleasant and responsive management.

I think that spikes dont looks danger and their hitboxes bigger then visual.

Great game. Thank you =)

Was very happy I got to play this one, the mechanics made the gameplay very unique and I had a lot of fun trying to figure out the quickest way to beat each stage! I unfortunately couldn't find out how to reach the secret levels though.

Also if you don't mind me asking, could you elaborate a bit more on the "but it wasn’t made during the jam, judge as you will"? Would it mean that the game was made before it? Sorry if it seems like a silly question. Great game regardless!

@gabrimer thank you! the whole entire game was made during the jam.
The version that has the alternate control scheme was made later, since a lot of people seemed to dislike the original ones. I mentioned it if people want to consider only the original key bindings into the scores they give. Everything else about that version is the same though!

@belonzik Ah okay, thank you for the clarification! I played the original version with the first control scheme and I honestly didn't have any issues with it really. I was using the right CTRL key to slash and that mixed with WASD felt good to play.

And one final note because I completely forgot to mention this in the first comment, but I also wanted to appreciate the visuals and sound of the game! The music made the experience a lot more pleasant and I loved the art style you went for. The character that you play as looks adorable, and it even reminds me of the Google cat "Momo".

This is polished! The visuals and music are release-ready. I need to take a break from playing, though, because my hand is cramping!! Maybe I should try the alternate controls.

The gameplay felt really tight and polished too, reminiscent of the kind of control you need for Hollow Knight. The puzzle design with bouncing from slash felt really satisfying. I just wish I were better at it!! But I so appreciate that is saves my progress :D

The only nit was that the controls soometimes seemed unresponsive (most apparent on BRITTLE), where I wouldn't slash despite hitting Ctrl (maybe while I was holding left?), and sometimes I would keep moving one direction in the air, despite letting up on the button or pressing the anti-direction. Small nits, this was still a blast!!

Good job on the game. It was a really cool twist on a platformer and I like how levels could feel a bit like a puzzle. I felt the the game could have benefited from making the platforming and the sword hotboxes a bit more lenient and focusing more on the puzzle like aspect of the movement rather than precision platforming. Some of the levels were a bit rough to get through due to the controls feeling a bit awkward for the precision required. Overall though very cool good and a fun idea.

WOW ... Just WOW. Hands down one of the best games i've ever played. The controls are tight the difficulty just right - hard enough that you have to keep trying but simple enough that once you get a good feel for it you can get it right. Also making it super easy to restart/retry was very keep in keeping the frustration level down. you are a true master.

Everything else is just icing on that cake. Great visuals, Great Music, Great SFX, Great level design.

You deserve the top spot and I hope you win! Amazing.

The feel of the jump and the slash work together so well! Every movement is pure satisfaction, amazing graphics and design. Also the music reminds me a lot of Celeste/Lena Raine. Awesome game!

Best game I've played I think. I just wish it had controller support.

(the smallest nitpick, I wish when I would snip then quickly turn around, it would snip where I was facing rather than my new direction.)

I beat it, I think! I wasn't able to find the secret levels; maybe next time you should just include them as normal levels? It's sad to have people miss out on the stuff you spent those precious hours on. The difficulty ramp-up was also quite severe!

Way more positives than negatives, though. I loved the slash mechanic, very creative. Like a sideways take on Hollow Knight's pogo mechanic. It turns the levels into puzzles: what to cut now, and what to save for later? Very solid music, cute art. Would definitely play a full version with tons of crop types, and maybe a level editor! Tag me when it comes out on Steam and I'll snag a copy. ;)

Nice aesthetics, even with limited amount of tiles. I do think it starts too hard, could have some more accessible screens at the start to teach players and give something fun to do even for us who suck at platformers. I also feel that hit box of spikes is too wide, while graphics of it not being tall enough. They both kill too too easily and blend into background too much cause their small size.

All in all, tight and hard little platformer with nice visual style.

Would love to see this polished. Any post-jam plans for this? The game mechanics seem interesting, but there doesn't seem to be any real space to learn them. Others have commented on the first jump and the difficulty curve. The few levels I did manage to get past were pretty fun after I figured out some of the basics, and I did enjoy the challenge.

Aside from that... walking left from the starting screen seems to soft-lock the game. : )

God this game feels so good! The platforming is super tight and challenging (I would love a gamepad controlled version!). Please make more of this, this was so cool, I can't imagine the shenanigans you could come up with the corn cobs and carrots combined. Seriously this is so well done! One of my favourites this LD for sure!

Amazing art style! And really well done game overall. My only complain would be: please let me jump with W key or Up Arrow! Anyway, great job with the game :)
