Congrats !
btw, this 'caw' power up is op. loved it. LOL. by-btw, is there a Bean Farmer Extreme 1?
Pretty straight forward with the controls, thought at first I didn't realize I could go side to side. Fire rate once you got the 3 shot felt super slow and even after getting an upgrade for speed it didn't seem like it was shooting much faster at all. Combine that with the difficulty ramp and I got board pretty quick at that point since it felt like there was no way to kill all the birds.
Another sick addition though would be if the lines were a music sheet and if you matched the note playing in the music it would super power it (scope creep pretty hard there, but still would be super fun).
Really addicting and fun game, love the sun animation when picking an item,
I felt like the first level was a bit too hard though ^^
Pretty hardcore, but I enjoyed it a lot. The art is hella cute. :D
One suggestion would be to improve the notification to the player that they need to be _under_ the power ups and hit `E` to select them. I got stuck there for a little bit
This is an example of the whole being more than the sum of its parts, I think. The mechanical gameplay is actually pretty brain-dead (as long as your bullets are hitting something, it doesn't matter too much where you are), and the upgrade system isn't very interesting (fire rate over everything else, wish 3 bullets wasn't a trap!), but the cute/humorous aesthetic and music and everything combine to make something that is enjoyable anyways.
The background track sounds really derpy at first blush but is deceptively well-produced with pitch slides, tasty aliased triangle bass, and some nice noise drum/fx fills.
I think the only improvements you could make are just adding more variety of upgrades and just more content overall but thats expected for a game jam so I think you did a great job keeping scope small and getting a small polished thing out.
Great work!
The music was epic btw!
