Try to survive on Mars until a spaceship arrives.

Tips:

  1. YOU MUST EAT, without enough calories you will die!
  2. Pay attention at the stats of fruits, calories are important.
  3. Fertility is the amount of fruit grown. It's hard to harvest vegetables on Mars, so low resistant fruit will die.
  4. If a fruit doesn't get enough energy, it will stop growing
  5. Mix vegetables, the resulting fruits will get mixed properties, so try to find the best vegetables.

Nice work ! Love the design and the concept. Didn't fully understand what exactly happens when you mix too plants but I ended up with some nice caloric lettuce ahah. Super chill. Good job !

I enjoyed hybridizing the plants. Calm atmosphere. Certainly on theme. You're really pressed for calories and I didn't see a good way to increase yields consistently so it came down to my fertile strain of fast growing potatoes in the end and all other veggies were exhausted quickly.

Interesting optimization problem

I like the concept, I think it's neat. However, I feel like I was able to completely cheat the system by creating a turbo potato that takes 1 day to grow, yields 7 turbo potatoes, and contains 6 calories per turbo potato. That made the challenge of the game pretty trivial.

This was absolutely amazing! Loved the idea :)
Was easy once you figured out that the corn can produde more than the daily requirement. Could on my second try basically spam next day without giving it further thought.
But with that said, thats usually stuff you fix when you get the feedback and not before submiting to a jam.
Once again, great job!

Very cool concept! I wish there was a visual indicator that a plant is a hybrid, it was hard to tell apart my regular boring potatoes from my superior corn-potatoes. The eating mechanic was also a bit confusing, because it seemed like you have to drop off items on your plate (without any visual indicator), and you only got their effects the next week? I'll have to pay more attention on my next attempt.

Regardless, I had fun!

Really good Art and UI. The concept of using the same kind of resources for mixing, growing and feeding is really smart !
Hope this game will became something great in the future !

A really chilled, calming game with a great soundtrack, beautiful art style and intuitive gameplay. I lucked out an bred a vegetable fairly early that took a day to grow 10x and just rode that until the spaceship rescued me, but I'd imagine balancing a game like this for a jam is incredibly difficult.

Ayy finally the comment works for me!

This game is lowkey genius! My first game I died on day 14, and I was gonna call it quits.. But the survival game lover/hoarder in me needed to find closure, so I gave it another go. Oh boy, I absolutely loved this game! It must be the exploration of the unknown aspect, where I try to find the perfect super food! I’m sure there is better food, but I managed to win with a potato-lettuce variant! Amazing work! I loved this one!!!

Also, tutorial was greatly appreciated! >~<

@alex-de-la-cour yes, balancing such game kind of tricky. yeah, maybe it way too easy when you got super food early

@pazzi thanks, I wasn't confident about tutorial.

@hmrpf when you mix 2 fruits you will receive a fruit with mixed properties, not necessarily better

@shahinm yeah, the corn is way too easy, nice finds! thanks

Liked the game however I would really appreciate if there was better feedback to the player when you take action. For example when you hover over an object that you can interact with, it would be great to highlight it. When you put a food on your plate I would love to see a floating text above telling my how many calories I gained and so on.

I think it's a great concept and would be really enjoyable if you add some polish to it.

That's so interesting when I breed a new hybrid species!

Unknown is the key of fun. It was fun to try to mix and see the outcome. I win the game by first try and couldn't reproduce the imba brownish beet that yield 20+ unit/day :joy:

A neat concept but I struggled to grok the hybrid mechanic fully, which I suppose is a success in and of itself. Good work.

This was fun. Really appreciated the tutorial — it answered most of my doubts and I got started splicing genomes right away. I also like the layout of the screen, you have got everything you need within reach. Felt hard and fun until I successfully bred a super-potato on day 5, perhaps it should be a little harder to get to the super-potato hybrid, but that is a balancing detail :)

Great gameplay i love the concept, and i finally win at the end ! The immersion on mars is really cool. The point i think as the other will be the key of the game is the feedback. I had a great time on this game thanks a lot.

Great gameplay, though as others have pointed out, it could be better balanced
Cool artstyle and atmosphere too!

Good game! I like the management style, where you have to make tradeoffs between two choices. It was well balanced, because it's just the choice between what to combine, plant and eat. The turn-based gameplay was well integrated with the calendar!

Very cool and chill game, got immersed for a good half an hour. Flunked my first attempt, but on the second I lucked out with some fast growing salad and blue-tatoes.

I can easily see a diary of sorts, something to read each day waiting for the rescue. Or even a, maybe easier, endless mode to see how long you can survive. You would need disruptive events each day though, like a nasty bacterium destroying the crops or a cold-snap... Just some thought for future development

Very good entry
