Wheat Joust by Whismirk

[raw]
made by Whismirk for Ludum Dare 52 (JAM)

/!\ This game requires two players /!\

When two knights claim a field, a new tradition came up : the Wheat Joust. The knight who harvests the most wheat in a limited time wins. But nothing stops you from slashing off the head of your opponent.

Rules

The game starts with the two players on each side of the screen.

Your goal is to fill your bag with a maximum amount of wheat during the given time.

You can kill your opponent to steal some of their wheat.

While in the wheat, you are hidden. You make a dodge roll every time you get out of it. Use that to your advantage to ambush your opponent and slash him down !

You have 60 seconds. Good luck :D

You don't come across a lot of 2 players games in jams like this, so that was a cool thing to see! I like the concept and the bit of lore you came up with for it. The game looks lovely; the art for the environment and the character design are really nice. I did come across some issues with the controls where the character would slide if moving and harvesting at the same time.

(I know you opted out of the audio rating category, but I'd still be careful using songs like that)

Solid mechanics, beautiful graphics, banging soundtrack, and local multiplayer... What more could you want from a game? The only thing I had an issue with was that I couldn't hear the rest of the audio over the music, but for 72 hours you made a gem.
Thank you for the experience <3

Nice approach to the jam's theme. The game looks good and plays well. I like how you had an alternate attack input for the 2nd player. Hitting shift too often makes windows try to activate sticky keys. Cool game, nice work!

That was fun to play, it's not often you come across a two player game on here; and although I didn't have anyone to play it with, I had fun trying to get my hands to be coordinated enough to battle each other.

Good job! It took me a second to realize that the characters were hidden behind the wheat on purpose, but it was a good time nonetheless. Love the art style too.
