Don't Leave Me by Hamsternator

[raw]
made by Hamsternator for LD33 (COMPO)
"Can you protect yourself and a little boy when the world wants to hurt you?"

This game is a lot different from what I usually make. Humour is not a thing here and I mostly wanted to try some subtle storytelling. I'm not a master at it, but I can definitely see myself trying something else along these lines in the future =)

Everything is controlled with the mouse and hopefully it won't confuse anyone this time around ^^

No worries, the controls aren't confusing (at least for me ^^) i actually really like the idea, it's interesting to think from the side of the man.

This is not my type of game, since I like some more action, but I enjoyed my time playing, good entry.

Horrible story, but you are the monster - right? Oppressive mood. A cool entry ++

I have a lot of respect for people who make narrative games for LD. I know how hard it is to do in 48 hours, and I think the small amount of player interaction and gameplay reflects that. There are many aspects that could be improved upon, but if making a creepy story was your goal, you succeeded. High marks in mood and theme.

This game was interesting. I think it has potential, but it was so limited. I think if you had more dynamic options or more things to do at least the game would become more interesting. Still a good entry.

@Geckoo1337: I hope you mean "horrible" as in really dark and not crappy '^^

Thank you all for the kind words =D
I wanted to have some more and deeper management mechanics but unfortunately I'm not one of those wonder devs here on LD that manage to get weeks amount of work done in two days (Seriously, how do they do it!?). This is the first time that I've really considered to restart an LD-project outside the event and thanks to all of you nice feedback I might have the courage to do so ^^

I wonder if the "gameplay" element has something do with anything (I mean...no one was ever outside but the supplies just run out)
Nice dark theme for the game however

Sad story, I was a little confused as to what to do, the music was fitting to the game though.

It's pretty annoying how this theme doesn't allow any twist endings. It would've been cool if the story presented to the player made him feel like he's the good person at the start (protecting the kid from something) and only in the end it is revealed that not all was as it seemed. I guess you were going for that kind of effect, but me knowing the theme ruined it :(. Maybe you could've played on that though, and made it so that you actually _are_ the good guy, even if the player expects you to be the monster?!

Didn't feel like the gameplay parts had much of an effect/meaning either. I like what you were going for, but sadly it didn't quite work for me.

Lol, until the end I was thinking that this is some kind of post-apocalypse survival simulator :)

THat was disturbing and I knew the twist. As mentioned the theme gives it away, yet still well executed.
Hit the mood music high.
