Musical Mining : The Harmony of Greed by Andy-Link
We uploaded a second version that run correctly in the embed player of Ludum Dare and we also fix the slides of the introduction story.
(Also the level 5 (the final one) is impossible. If you clear it you are truly greedy)

Also rhythm of button presses seems to have nothing in common with a music playing but maybe it is only in the beginning, but I can't progress.
I would consider replacing the "oh no" with something else because I found it a bit hard to concentrate
I found the controls to be the hardest part. As someone with a qwerty keyboard my hands default to asdf or jkl; and I think those would have been better defaults (or allowing the user to pick their own).
The other hard part was mentally going from the vertical game to horizontal keyboard, part of the challenge, but it caused me to mess up a few times  I think the rings fit the theming well, but it also made it harder to read because the inside and outside rings are travelling at different speeds to keep the same orbit, kind of messed with my brain while trying to keep track.
Regardless I had fun and hope you all keep making games!
I found the timing of the buttons the hardest - not sure if it was the circular nature of it all or just the "grace period" was not long enough. It also ramped up in difficulty really quickly.
All in all an amazing entry though.
@unentokku Happy that cyrille's design inspire you ! :art:
@kiberptah @frozenfire92 You're right about the difficulty of a vertical bar with a horizontal key. The game is challenging enough. :hot_pepper:
@ofiro Yes, the "oh no!" is way too loud compare to the sound effects and the music. :loudspeaker: GG for getting to the level 4!
@pokopish We didin't have time with our musician to fine-tune the sound and perfectly fit it to our theme but we are still happy of what we deliver
@rocktavious Happy to hear that our game made you laugh! I was quite confused at the beginning when people were talking to me about the "oh no!". It is actually saying "money!" as you are not harvesting efficiently when to miss a key and are losing fuel. But I guess "oh no!" does the job too
Thank you all for you awesome and honest feedbacks!
Cheers!
So this game was really cool, but there was one problem that prevented me from spending more time with it than I did. I don't mean for this to sound too negative, so I hope this is constructive feedback:
I stalled out in level three because the retry is so slow and the failure is so fast. I counted, and when I fail it's gameover in 2.5 beats. Then I have to wait 16 beats after pressing retry before I am actually playing again. That is 86% of the time sitting and waiting vs 14% of the time playing the game. Makes it hard to get that "one more try" feeling... I would have spent a lot more time with the game if the retry delay was nearly instant instead of so so incredibly long.
Sorry if that was too negative. There is a lot of really good stuff going on here. The background music is sweet, the art and presentation are very cool, and the "OHNO" was humorous and made it ULTRA-clear where I was succeeding and failing. So definitely a cool entry all around.
I feel that it is maybe why @pinchazumos also stopped at the level 3  Happy that you also like the game @pinchazumos
Nitpicking, but there was a really hard difficuly spike after level 3, so could not get the ending sadly.
In rhythm games I usually tend to tap after the bgm.
It had rhythm, but it did not exactly go after the bgm, would have been nice if it did. It was not a big problem.
