- The number at the top is how much wheat you are holding. When you are holding 0 and you have none planted, the game immediately ends.
- If you step on a planted wheat before it's fully matured, it is destroyed and you get nothing back.
- Every 5 seconds, you lose one wheat that you were holding.
Once I understood how to play, I had fun! I managed to get up to 30 sheep.
Really cool game, it took a bit to figure out what to do, but it comes to you quickly.
Graphics are on point. I think the footsteps are a little annoying after a while.
Nice entry!
Tips for others: Make sure not to step on your own crops! I restarted about 10 times before I got anywhere, since I didn't realize I was killing my own crops.
Adorable game with a simple premise. It takes a couple of tries to get the hang of it but once you get it, it's fun.
I love the way the player waddles around, it adds to the aesthetic of the game.
Was a nice challenge keeping the sheep away while trying not to trample your own crops. The graphics suited the game nicely. Would make a fun full game for mobile
- Neat art and smooth animations. One of the best I've seen so far on The Compo submissions.
- Controlling with WASD and Z not so handy, probably adding alternative for Z would be nice (maybe you already have that alternative)
- Playing for ~2 minutes is fun, although after you get the idea the game becomes very boring and with no goal. Maybe dividing it into levels with some specific goals and additional mechanics could work better.
- Screenshotting in the end feels a bit cheesy and only confuses (since you don't say Game Over or anything like that), so I didn't understand what the game wants from me for some time
As of right now, the engine this was made on generates the screenshot menu itself and that goes on by default for all games, it's one of the few downsides of creating with that engine. Last ludum dare featured a game with the name "Snek left" which has the exact same screenshot menu.
Bdw, Arrow keys and spacebar also work for alternative controls :p
Here’s the start of your game if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts youtu.be/qbBq_nBKk5k?t=7550
Loved the style, reminds me of crossy road! Congrats on the fun entry!
That said, I think that the game started to slow down and struggle around 10 sheep... maybe use a more lightweight platform in the future? I managed to get 16 sheep after a few tries.
Thank you for the game!
