Chess The Second by aslan
Have you ever played turn-based grand strategy games like Civilization or Chess? Now guess what. I combined these two games and it turned out to be the most chaotic game I've ever seen.

Really fun to see a melange between a mobile management game and chess (with graphics from those genres)!
Great surprise! Congrats!
My only suggestion would be that you make the enemy pieces another color. Maybe randomize which color the player starts as, and make the opponent the opposite? Have lots of colors like in Splatoon? Preferably with symbols so that it's color-blind friendly.
Straightforward controls, easy to understand, fun to play. Nicely done!
Deliciously strategic!! I quite liked this one. The only problem I encountered was that I sometimes couldn't take spaces and didn't understand why (even when no enemies had line-of-sight).
All that said, there might be more to this concept if you're wanting to flesh it out further!
My only major problem was that I forgot with pieces are mine and which are the opponent's.
Pretty advanced mechanics, would be cool to see it as a polished game! Cheers
Good job!
Note: I saw a weird bug. If it do nothing and just skip my turns, the bot doesn't move their pieces, and they stack over each other.
Core idea is solid a you can definitely move it further. Maybe the AI could be more smart but hey, we all had just few days. Overall Good job!
I really like the way you mixed chess with something else resulting in something very unique.
I was exretemely impressed from the bots, they were way smarter than I first thought, (of course I won, ;) but still, really impressive.
For some reason, I couldn't capture my opponent's queen. Probably a bug.
Wonderful game, Well done!
I liked how simple the mechanics themselves were yet how deep the gameplay could get. Really thinking about farm placements, contemplating which resources to get how and which pieces to make was an interesting twist on both games. Graphics are very fitting as well. I would have loved some sound effects and the map can sometimes generate in a way that feels a bit unfair but overall this is a solid entry.
Great job!
Wish the player color as red was easier to understand, I keep clicking around on random tiles until someone let's me put down a farm.
I think it would be harder if each piece was forced to move every turn. I beat the AI a couple times by just leaving my pawn alone and hitting end turn and the AI ran into me. Either AI should be able to stop or I should have to make a move with every piece every turn.
I lost a bunch of pieces, including a queen by not understanding how far pieces could go. The "Can't move into sight line" rule wasn't really clear when I was playing with my pieces. Some balance here would be nice and make it less frustrating.
Oh, also frustrating that I never "won" the game. Couple of times I killed all the AI's pieces and resources, never got an end game screen. Then I tried taking over all the board spaces with my color, still no end game you win screen. I live and die for that screen man come on!
All in all, I had a ton of fun with this, played it a couple of times even though I'm supposed to be doing game rating spam.
But besides some quality of life features I think there is nothing much that could make the game better
A really good strategy game that I will replay for sure (added to my favorites) good job!
Maybe an idea for the future: a realtime game mode? (removing the turn by turn)
Fun idea though, I enjoyed a couple rounds
Otherwise I really liked this, as above, could use a you win screen for sure (and fix pawns!)
perhaps fix the camera or always have the board centered (at least for the smaller board it was offset towards right top corner, felt bit weird)
Issues with the overlay was when playing the web version. Have not tried the windows version.
I loved playing it though, neat idea. great effort.
Really ambitious to do any kind of puzzle for LD. It was hilarious and fun and worth it. Thanks!
