Space Harvester by Cobear25

I built this game in Unity. Audio and music in GarageBand. Art assets with Gravit Designer. It was a really fun project, I’d like to add a lot more to it if I ever get the time. Enjoy!
Controls: - Arrow Keys or WASD - Turn & adjust speed - Space - Shoot - M - Mute the music - P - Pause the game - Mouse Scroll - Adjust camera zoom (Helpful if you get lost)
Changelog: - 01/10/2023 I know this is probably breaking the rules, but I added a small feature that should help with people getting lost. There's now UI that will point you in the direction of the mothership once it's off screen. It's technically a feature, but also kind of a bug fix. I hope that helps! - 01/12/2023 Improved memory management (hopefully this prevents the crash some people are seeing)

All in all, a good game just needs some more polish (don't like all of these games do though).
My main problem is that due to getting lost, I stayed completely scrolled out to see the entire map, but this took away the any sense of surprise. It took away some of the fun of flying around and getting lost. I wish there were some indicator when scrolled in of where the mothership was.
I also realized - I don't think you destroy any lasers that miss. After I died one game and respawned, I saw a line of lasers I had fired last game shooting off into the distance. After a few games, the page became unresponsive and crashed. Taking a quick look at your code, I'm not sure what's causing this, as [the prefabs are destroyed when they become invisible](https://github.com/cobear25/Space-Harvester/blob/main/Assets/Bullet.cs#L19-L22):
```csharp
private void OnBecameInvisible()
{
Destroy(gameObject);
}
```
I may look into this more later if I have time.
All in all, fantastic game, like seriously. The sound, particle effects, and everything comes together so well. It's been added to a private collection I have of my favorite game jam games!

Thanks for the game!
Overall, I liked it but I couldn't get very good at it in my few attempts; with a little more time put in, I could really get into this! Good job, keep it up (especially for a compo entry, I'm impressed)! :clap:
Great controls, the shooting works very well, and just the feel of the whole is really good.
Only thing i feel its lacking is literally just more gameplay features and content.
Great work =)
I loved the feeling of speed and tight controls in this one and the mechanic that you could graze-orbit planets. Graphics were also fine apart from the enemies that looked like it was just a hitbox attacking me. The string of crops hanging from the ship looked satisfying.
Good music, maybe a bit "loud" in it's melodies, but playtime was so short before dying so the music fit, giving intense mood.
Overall very nice compo entry!
I'd like to see this expanded maybe with different enemy types, enemy mothership where the enemies spawn from, purchaseable weapons, drones, upgrades etc. If you make a post jam update, tag me in the comments! :slight_smile:
If I had one criticism/suggestion, I think I would have liked to be able to shoot with something other than the spacebar (mouse would have been preferable I reckon).

I felt like it was a bit difficult to aim your gun, and with the speed of the enemies you die quite quickly.
Either way, had a lot of fun! Furthest I've gotten so far was 63 :)
