PutPutPlume by Knatt

[raw]
made by Knatt for Ludum Dare 52 (COMPO)

Spread your spore and harvest the mushrooms that come up! you are a mushroom-folk, and one of your people's, favorite pastimes is PutPutPlume. use one of 3 clubs to spread your spore and harvest the mushrooms that are your color

1: Catcher Club: Fly in a straight line over stumps. Catches any mushrooms it flies over

2: Duster: Fly in a straight line and bounce when hitting a stump. Leaves a field of spores as it travels

3: Pod Launcher: Fire a projectile that explodes at its ending destination. Any of these spores that hit a stump will also send out your spore.

each player takes turns taking aim, and launching spores onto the field. If a mushroom spends a turn on a colored floor tile, it will turn that color. This means the Player will be able to "harvest" it. Each mushroom is worth different amount of points, depending on it's size. After each player takes a turn that will be the end of the round, at the end of 10 rounds the player with the most points wins

Thank you for looking at my game. I was not able to dedicate as much time to the compo as I would have liked, but I figure it's better to keep the streak than nothing at all.

Interesting game with intuitive controls. I enjoyed myself, but I couldn't really connect what I was doing to success - the mushroom count each turn didn't seem to match either the stumps or the mushrooms I had in my color - was I collecting them somehow after turning them to my color, or did the color not matter? I wasn't clear on the goals, which might have been helped if you had some more clear positive feedback when you do something good. I didn't know how to switch clubs or how that was supposed to work, although the interface was otherwise very clear and easy to use. Nice work!

Interesting gameplay. It would be interesting to see where this idea could go with more development. I agree with dob that it was a little unclear how I was doing in the game relative to my opponent. Clearer feedback would help that. I also took a bunch of shots before I realized that after the first click, you can aim your shot. Some visual feedback would also help with that (i.e. an arrow that pops up when you're in aiming mode), but I understand you can't always get everything you want into a compo game. Overall great effort!!!
