Monstrosity by soulrot

[raw]
made by soulrot for LD33 (JAM)
A platformer-ish type of game with some shooting. Not even close to what we had in mind, but we are uploading it anyway.
Made by me (Soulrot) and OxySocks in less than 24 hours, with our custom WIP framework. Which, turned out, could have used more additions and improvements than expected.

Controls:
A + S or arrow left + arrow right to walk
W, arrow up or spacebar to jump
E or enter to active item
LMB to toggle shield or shoot, depending on the player's state

The shield takes hits, which reduces the charge bar. Shooting reduces the charge bar as well. There are a few recharge items in the level which can be picked up by activating them with E or enter.

PLEASE NOTE: Pressing 'play game' after winning/losing does not reset the game! This may or may not be fixed afterwards.

I really liked the graphics and it was really enjoyable to play. It was a little frustrating sometimes when trying to jump up to the next ledge, I may have been doing something wrong. Apart from that, it's a good game!

Very simple game but works as a platformer and a shooter. Took me a few tries to get through and contained some interesting mechanics along with a "no holds bar" game over screen. It has the right mood and fits into the them well.

I liked. :)

I don't know why, but here, after losing or winning, the game continues with a deathless monster. Is it a bug over here?

I liked the simple graphics, but the platforming was really difficult and frustrating due to the controls and player movement.

Fun entry, I love the style. Collision was a little questionable at times, same with your jump height. It wasn't very clear at first how to switch states/use abilities. Some audio would have gone a long way. That said, this was a very enjoyable entry, keep it up!
