Great concept! I'm not used to visualizing Conway's game of life in my head though, I feel like if it had slightly simpler rules for alive/dead, that would have done a lot more for this game.

This is a really cool concept! I love the idea of turning Conway's Game of Life into a puzzle game. Really takes me back to some college CS classes. It was cool to see how placing plants in different areas affected the growth, although it was mostly just trial and error. Overall, a pretty clever idea. Nice work!

Incredibly innovative and cool take on the theme, and an awesome puzzle game! Very hard though, would have benefitted from a few more rules explanations.

The music and art fit the tone nicely

Removed the OpenGameArt art assets, wrote a new music track, and edited some sound effects to comply with Ludum Dare's new assets rule.

I enjoyed trying to figure out this puzzle game! It was fun! I do think it needs a tutorial to help get players up to speed a bit quicker.

This is an amazing take on the harvest theme! I've always found "Conway's Game of Life" fascinating in that it isn't really a game you can play, but you were able to make it into not only a playable game, but a playable game that really fits the jam theme! Great work

Awesome concept, I like how the different plants didn't have too much of an explanation so there was lots of player discovery

Great entry, not sure if there is mobile game like that. if not, go for it! :)
you need better UI though.

really clever idea, both in applying the theme and the actual mechanics of the game. I agree with @plusminus that there's potential for a mobilegame/casual puzzle game here :D

Great game. Very innovative but i find it hard to predict the behavior of growth multiple turn (like 4) in the future, but i'm a bit dumb so dont take my word for it. Music is awesome, it remind me of terraria.
Fantastic job for 9h!

A very neat way to turn the game of life into a proper puzzle game with additional rules and such! Really impressive for a 9 hour game, good job!

Really nice entry, especially for only 9 hours. I admit, it was mostly trial and error for me too. Visualizing all fields with all conditions in my head was bit too much, clicking and watching what happens was easier ;)

real cool idea, but too hard for my brain lol, im only able to finish half of the levels. It's like, I understand how every thing work, but I just dont know how to make it work. but that not the game's problem. very nice work!

Man I really found your game relaxing. It's the kind of game you can play all day. Even if you manage to version it for android, it might also make me glued to the game all day hehehe, really addictive. Congratulations, the graphics are pretty cool too. Ah, if you have a little time, enter our game and give your evaluation too (just enter my profile quickly, it's the first game I make). I advise you to play the downloaded version, because the Ludum one is not adapting the window correctly!

I like this game a lot. I love conway's game of life. The game is quite hard. Level 3 was challenging but level 4 I'm just stuck lol

Well done! As others point out, nice take on Conway's Game of Life! I personally enjoy puzzles and yours was challenging but fair. I appreciate how you let the player undo and experiment.

nice interpretation on game of life. in the beginning it's hard to understand what will be on the next turn, it will be helpful to display next round growing somehow

I'm an artist so my brain too small to fully comprehend this game but i had fun trying half the levels by placing one crop in different spots and spamming grow to see how it reacts. Very cool.

i think if this was on a smaller board for the earlier levels, it'd be easier to figure out how they're going to interact. i was still able to solve most of the levels, but didn't understand how

super clever idea! never thought of gamifying the game of life. I'm super bad at this though, but love the creativity here

This was so clever -don't think i've seen anyone make a game out of the game of life like that before -very fun to solve the puzzles! The art and music were great too! Had a lot of fun with this -fantastic work! :D

I really like this game. Its fun to mess around with, but it feels like failing upward. Sure I "solved" some puzzles, but I couldn't tell you how lol. Not sure how you'd go about making it simpler, you gotta find a way to teach players what is happening and really burn it in. (maybe animating what happens during growth would help)

1 little nit-pick/suggestion; I think I'd prefer to just click an open square to plant my selected plant, rather than drag and drop for every tile.

Great job overall!

I found myself just getting annoyed with this game haha, perhaps just not for me. Music was done well and suitable.
