Your Harvest Story | Ludum Dare 52 Find out what the seasons have in store for you this year.

In Your Harvest Story, you draw random cards every season which predict how well they will go. At the end you discover how well your next Harvest may go overall.

Note: I created all the Art assets except the Illustrations used in the Cards themselves that have a more painterly style.

Good little animations, sounds and audio which does make it feel like a card game. The game itself is a little basic - it would be great if the player had more agency, like the ability to trade a card and hope for a better one, or earn more cards to try and turn the tide when a year is going badly! Very on theme.

It looks like a very complete divination game, with excellent art, good music and sound effects, and different results in a year, which made me play it many times. I hope I can have more sense of participation in the game, and this game will be better.

@adam-burt Thanks for playing and the feedback! I agree with the lack of agency, it was something I was thinking about but in the end didn't have time to add this aspect. Would love to add stuff like that at some point to make it more interactive and engaging

@huozhedexiaoc Thanks for the feedback! Yes I think some way to include the player more as you mention would be a great improvement

Even though making choices felt out of my control, I do like the mood and idea of this. It has potential for a more engaging game!

Love the concept and artdesign! The mechanism is simple but healing. May 2023 be an amazing year!

This was surprisingly fun! It was a very relaxing experience and I found myself creating a little story of my farm in my head. I was super lucky the first year, with every season being really good. On my second year the plague hit unfortunately, so that was not as great :/
I think what made this game work even though it had simple gameplay was the very soothing art and music, and the work you put into making all the animations and screen transitions feel very smooth. The game had a very polished feel because of it. I also really loved the minimalistic symbols for each of the seasons :)
I agree with others that a bit more player agency would have been nice, but I just hope it wont lose its feel if you decide to add something like that.
Very nicely done! I am happy to have played this one :D

The aesthetic and function of the interface felt very polished and crisp. It felt like I was using a very sturdy, well-constructed application.

Simple, easy to play, with a tarot card reading feel.

Nice graphic and animation; simple and relaxing game.
I didn't expect that I'm just picking cards randomly without any ability to change things, some deck presentation (e.g., shows all cards before picking) or additional player interaction (e.g. replace a card) would be nice.

I think this is a great foundation for something bigger. I love the tarot card-esq gameplay. Perhaps a story intro for a character you play as could give it a little more depth? Love the art and the audio, although I wish the paintings on the cards were not AI generated. Can't wait to see what your future has in store!

I too wish the designs on the cards were no AI generated, but besides that, it's a sweet, short, simple and beautiful. It has great potential!
