Seeds of Civilisation by Istaera
The elders have gone before you to seed planets with life. Over time, these seeds have grown, and have yielded a great prize - intelligent life. Your task is to protect the burgeoning civilisation until its Great Minds are ready for harvest.

At least, that's what we put on the recruitment pamphlet. Really, your task is to fill the quota. If you need to carefully position an asteroid to get a physician conversant with the four humours out from under a particle accelerator, then that's what you need to do.
I mean, look at this. We can't have this sort of artillery just hanging around. It's bad for business. Next thing you know, these guys will become the competition. Best stop them before they get that far.

Good luck! And remember to keep that green post-it over your dash-cam, so we can 'digitally enhance' the footage later.

- Watch as each planet's civilisation goes through each stage, upgrading over time.
- Collect the people shown on the right. Different levels of civilisation will produce different kinds of great minds.
- Don't let life on the planet be destroyed by asteroids or stray bullets. If a planet gets hit, the civilisation level will be reduced temporarily. Usually it will grow back, but watch out: if a planet at the earliest stage is hit, it will die, and dead planets will not respawn life.
- However, don't be afraid to engage in some light planetary bombardment if you find yourself needing a Great Mind from an earlier era.
- Beware of Smugglers, who will compete with you to harvest the Great Minds, and Space Police, who will try to stop you.
Controls: - WASD/Arrow Keys to move. The ship moves by turning on the spot, accelerating, and braking. - You can also brake with X/Numpad 0, in case you want to accelerate and brake with different hands. - Space/Enter/Z to shoot.
Quality of life controls: - P/Esc: Pause and open menu. - Ctrl+M: Toggle music. - Ctrl+R: Reset current level. - Ctrl+N: Next level. - Ctrl+P: Previous level. - Ctrl+S: Take screenshot.
Versions: - 101 was uploaded at the end of the jam. - 102 is the jam version with a fix for a rare crash. - 11POST_JAM has animations that were drawn during the jam but not implemented, a behaviour fix for police (failing to avoid asteroids), and tweaks to two of the later levels.

Again, very good game!
I think there is a lot of room to expand this idea too.
I love how many puzzles you came up with using the base concept, though!
I did have a bit of trouble with the controls but I've never been good at asteroids. I will say the few times pushing was needed I had a hard time with it.
I love the humorous presentation, with your activities being presented as... not exactly legal. I also love how the music changes as the planet goes from era to era, and the number of different puzzles and mechanics you were able to integrate. I think I must have been playing for nearly half an hour and didn't even finish it, and there aren't many Ludum Dare entries I can say that about. Good job!
Good gameplay idea, and bonus points for it being a nice spin on the classic asteroid formula.
Controls are a bit difficult to handle though, making it a bit harder than it should be.
The tone, humor and theming are on point.
I like how some levels are frantic fun with everything going on at once, and others are more puzzly.
Loved it !
1. level number so i know how far i am getting each time.
2. pausing when new level, so I can read the instructions.
3. turning down the forward thrust and rotation speeds, so the rocket doesnt go beserk so often, i have to use the braking a lot. Gets a bit tedious.
Great game though. 👽
some levels felt kinda tedious (especially the one where we have to push monoliths into the planet). Having the option to skip levels is a nice addition. And it has A LOT of levels, with a good variety too. quite impressive. I like the music, I love how it adapts to the age the planet is going through.
Very good entry overall, nice work :]
Nice job
Sadly the ship controls are a bit rough, might be good to slow everything down a bit to give the player some more control. Other than that gravitational pull and orbiting would be a really cool additions.
Overall great job though!
I think the rotation should be a bit slower, you need a lot of precision when aiming for stuff.
Also I played with X pressed during the whole game! haha
Great entry overall, though :)
Overall a really fun game, I like the idea and the existentialist humor in there. I had a fun time with most levels, while others (understandable in a jam setting) were just too difficult to complete in a casual setting. I don't really think that matters though, because the good impressions were very convincing. Cheers! It's really fun seeing all the diversity the game offers: getting missiles from advanced planets, having a sister planet shield you... thumbs up!!! There's honestly potential for a post-jam release (in a world where the ship controls a bit better, or you rebrand as a rage game :p)
