I had a lot of fun working on this, first time doing a bunch of texture work using substance painter! :D

I basically found a mechanic I liked and leaned into it a bit.

I had a lot less time for this than I'd like, a full day less than my usual games, so I feel like I did alright given the extra time constraints.

This is a game about pulling stuff out of the ground!

Nice to see a VR game! It makes me want to try, but I couldn't put my hands on a VR gear yet. Maybe soon! But I'd love to hear from you a devlog, postmortem or something sharing how the experience of making a VR game for a jam was. So if you do it, let me know!

@unidaystudio I've been doing VR jam entries since 2016 so I can't really do a postmortem from a new person's perspective haha!
I might write one anyway though, but yeah, loads of experience so I'm really comfortable doing VR entries at this point. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Game was super fun and worked great on my index. Use of theme fits perfect, am amazed you were able to get it working this well so fast!

Figured I would give it a play seeing as I'm not sure how many people will want to plug-in VR headsets to play LD games. Overall was a good tech demo but it felt like the aim of the game (speed) wasn't communicated at the beginning well enough. Also every level felt mostly the same would be interesting if you could build upon the idea in interesting ways (some things require plucking in specific orders or have multiple points that need pulling at the same time for example). Overall felt like more of a tech-demo than a game.

I just tried it on Quest 1 via Virtual Desktop and it worked fine. The feeling of pulling things out is very satisfying (and also the sound).

Ooh, a VR game. I can play these now.
The plucking was very satisfying, though the curtain didn't work too well. I imagine the idea was to hide the things when the new things spawned in, but I was always inside the curtain when it dropped.
Its a nice tech demo but could do with more gamey elements, such as specific objectives or puzzles to solve.

Noice, incredibly satisfying to pick everything. Surprised that there was no finger curl reading for knuckles but also hey man I get it. That truck tripped me up for a few seconds, wasn't sure what else to pull off

@hypernoodlejon I set this one up using OpenXR which makes reading finger curls hard :/

I have an Index and did miss it, it's not hard to set up with SteamVR Input but I didn't use SteamVR Input for this so I could more easily make standalone Android ports :p
(Which I didn't do because the game didn't get the full scope I was hoping to give it...)

Would love to rate your game back, as I do for everybody who leaves the comment under my game, but I don't have VR. :( Maybe next time. :)

This is really cool! I wanted to create a VR game, but just thought that I would never get 20 people to play my game, and I like getting my rank so bad. Do you usually get enough ratings?

The game is simple but is very well implemented and is actually pretty funny with its visuals and sound effect(s?)

I'm impressed by the quality of the 3D objects in your scene, while playing it I thought that you would have opted out the "Graphics" category. So good job on that!

Nice entry!

Thanks @rolly ! I've been putting more effort into my 3D art recently.

I do generally have a bit of trouble getting enough ratings, but I've been doing VR entries since 2016 and have found that if I actively try I can get it done and get ranked.

Usually adding a playthrough video also helps though those ratings do feel a bit less "genuine" so if I can get away without a video like that I'll prefer that.

One of my past entries even got in the top 50 overall! (Punchey, LD39)

@cursedembassy Glad you enjoyed it! Have you seen any other VR entries this jam? I've been having a hard time finding any...

OKAY LISTEN, *I WAS GOING TO PLAY THIS,* BUT I RAN OUTTA TIME AND FOR RIGHT NOW I'M SAVING YOU FROM LOSING YOUR PLACEMENT!!! I've rated averagely in each category so you can get a score at the end of the jam; I'll still try my best to play this and give you feedback, but I didn't want to risk trying that in 3 minutes!

***have a rating. I cannot really play this, but like it'd be cruel to make you not have a rating because of my lack of equipment***
