celestial garden by pataya

[raw]
made by pataya for Ludum Dare 52 (JAM)

play here : https://pataya.itch.io/celestialgarden

the universe is your garden : embody a celestial deity, give life... and take it.

plant planets, nurture them to make them livable and once they are ripe enough, harvest them to preserve the cycle of life (and become stronger, while you're at it)

how to play :

:earth_asia: buy planets with faith, water them with rain and make sure they are in range of a sun

 humans will spawn and pray for you, generating more faith

:hamburger: when a planet is well developped, drag it towards the black hole to eat it, gaining XP and levels for upgrades

:comet: watch out for flying meteors!

Adored all the little details! Thing like being able to accidentally fling people off the planets and things ha ha. So cute in a cosmic horror kind of way :P

Cool looking game with lots of small details, did not fully understand how to sell planets, leveled-up only by accident asteroids

I liked how peaceful this game was. There wasn't a lot of time to react to some of the asteroids that came in from the top, but after having so many planets bringing in the prayers, it wasn't anything to worry about 0:D

Very relaxing and nice looking game, I'm really into this concept - I never knew that I wanted a space garden :D

I liked the art style in this game and I think the adaption to the theme is great! I think it would have been good with a little higher pace in the beginning of the game, just to get going a bit quicker. Overall I think it's a really nice game!

So many small hidden details in this game, I love it! Feels like a great foundation to expand upon beyond this jam.

I'm a sucker for space simulations, and felt having these planets movement simulated would add to some of the incremental "chaos". If you're clicking away asteroids, why not also "click to correct" the planet simulation as well? They inherently achieve drift over time; it might be a fun added mechanic.

I think I may have overdone it a little :D
Once I figured out that the asteroids collide with the suns I knew what I had to do. And after my people were safe from outside dangers (but also trapped and doomed to never explore the rest of the universe) I started cramming all their planets into a single spot. That way I was able to water a lot of planets all at once.
That was really fun!

i really liked the idea of this game, and how it's really easy to learn. however, i found that past some point, it gets less and less fun to play, it's just harvesting planets and clicking on asteroids. went to level 17 tho! nice game!

Just super solid all round. Fab concept executed to a super high level. Think this is one that could be expanded on post jam. Brilliant job.

Wow this is one of my favourites of the jam so far. Super fun and compelling, great to look at and listen to, satisfying... I played till level 30

This is really fun and figuring out you could use the suns as protection from meteors was satisfying :)
